Software News   Software News : Battle for Wesnoth 1.1.7
   posted by afxgroup on 9-Jul-2006 14:49:51 (5389 reads)
Hi, on my site you can find the version 1.1.7 of Battle for Wesnoth for AmigaOS4.
I cannot upload it on os4depot because is 79MB and is not accepted by the site.

For the changes from the previous versions look at changelog

Regards,
Andrea

That's extremely good news!!!!

The previous version had apparently(judging from reports on www.wesnoth.org) some memory issues and was very slow in some scenarios, hopefully this one solves this.

THANKS, once again. ;)

Bring it on, Andrea, thanks for the update

Downloading add-ons doesn't work as expected, when download is done, the program
asks for some rather odd devices, seems there's still a bug in it ... Andrea?

Excellent.
I was just playing it this afternoon and suffered the problems of slowdown when i noticed this new version.

Well done. Keep up the good work.

I guess V1.2 is not too far away and I hope it'll be ported as well.

@kvinkunx

The first version ported had very slow unit movement. The subsequent versions bettered this, but introduced the slow downs. And it gets slower the more time you play without rebooting/restarting Wesnoth.

The bad thing is that, when reverting to an older version, you'll miss the little improvements that took place along the way...
Even so, a version without those irritating slow downs would be much more enjoyable.
Andrea?

EDIT: I also noticed that, during play, there is an enormous amount of HD access. SnoopDOS shows many files being searched, in a few different directories until finally found. Said files seem to be graphic tiles. Shouldn't those be pre-loaded?

@ALL

i've send to Wesnoth authors the patches for AmigaOS4. So any new version will be AmigaOS4 compatible. So only a quick compilation is needed.
However 1.2 is near... so wait that version

@Andrea

Have you tried contacting Björn (Orgin) at os4depot.net to see if he can upload the file for you to os4depot?
