| THX corto! It works visibly better now :). BTW. It would better with SYS:Utilities/MultiView as a tooltype for the docs, most MorphOS users don't use OS4: assign ;). |

| I had to change the .ppt suffix to .pps to make it work.
Is it possible to allow it to do this automatically? _________________ Peter Swallow. A1XEG3-800 [IBM 750FX PowerPC], running OS4.1FE, using ac97 onboard sound.

| Thank you Corto!!!

BTW, I'm curious... does it also play wav/mp3/midi embedded files? I don't have access to my OS4/MOS box right now... _________________ The only spanish amiga news web page/club: CUAZ

| amipal : Thanks, I fixed URL in the download page
Korni : You're right, as I built both version, I copied the icon from OS4 without changing the tool path. On MorphOS, I remember to click on readme files and executables ... I was certainly sleeping ...
Swoop : Maybe you talk about the requester of the GUI ? It will be easy to fix. I think I will add the GUI in the PointRider executable to call it where started without arguments.
Crumb : Audio stuff was not a priority so at the moment it does not play embedded sounds. But if you think it's important, maybe I could add that.
cap : How did you run PointRider ? I often run it from my development directory with PPS files in RAM:
spotUP : PowerPoint format is bad, slides and effects are crap but you know the situation about the MS files everywhere.
Thank you all for your comments and reports ! |

I downloaded the ppt file to ram then tried to view it with the Mui Launcher which is located in the PointRider Drawer on my "apps" partition.
Running Snoopdos tells me that the SDL_VIDEODRIVER fail and Reading ram fails.
Here`s the output of snoopy also.

Yes, I was using the GUI, so hopefully it is an easy fix.
This File Doesn't seem to work properly, either in a window or full screen. _________________ Peter Swallow. A1XEG3-800 [IBM 750FX PowerPC], running OS4.1FE, using ac97 onboard sound.

Well, sometimes I receive powerpoints that are simply a slideshow with music (usually an mp3 but IIRC some of them also include WAV/MIDI files), if you want some example files I could sent it to you. I understand that Gfx and animation are much more important, but having music would be cool.
I think you could use mpega.library to play mp3 (maybe SDL includes some kind of library) and WAV code should be fairly simple (again, SDL will probably include functions to decode and play wav files). The most difficult part would be playing MIDI files.
As a temporal solution maybe you could add some kind of options or mimetype text file to choose external 3rd party programs to play sounds/music. That way the user could use mpega to play mp3.
Anyway, impressive job! I guess some kind of standard datatype/library that made easier processing Microsoft files (PPT/PPS/Word/Excel) would be welcome by coders _________________ The only spanish amiga news web page/club: CUAZ

| SDL_mixer plays wav, ogg, mp3, midi etc. And since you are already using SDL, using sdl_mixer makes sense, makes it more multiplatform as well. _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

| Crumb : Of course new files are welcome ! About WAV and MP3, I could manage them and SongPlayer sources would help But it a first time maybe the spotUp idea is better. You're right, I could release a library but before I have to create a rendering using system functions. I think another major step will be to maintain both SDL and native rendering. SDL for portability and debugging purpose. Native for efficiency and Amiga feeling !
I will post future tasks and features on my blog. This release really helps to know where I have to go. |
