| And, the number one question expected - will DMA on Mediator work under OS4 properly now, or not? If so, I'm sure several will welcome this. Last edited by wegster on 22-Feb-2008 at 08:59 PM.

| Good work Elbox! More choices for classic users, problem with 3.3V solved
PCI IDE cards 3.3V Mediator 1200 NO No 3.3V support in PCI hardware
Hayperion will suport this for sure!
Will 1200 LT and 1200 be upgradeble? What about Mediators 3000 and 4000? _________________ F1 Srbija

| Advantages :
-3.3V support (so some cards maybe usable under amiga -You can use atx power suplly not just at -You can wake up your amiga by LAN signal -Maybe gfx card accelerated, but somebody proof it, until then it is only the same marketing bla bla from elbox.
Disadvantages:
- It is not using real dma, just the gfx card hack. (same as the earlier models) -max 8MB memory window. It reveals everithing, so i doubt it is faster than earlier models. |

Sadly this is due to limitations of the expansion slot and there is not much Elbox can do about that.
I doubt that it would be realistic to retro-fit DMA access between your acclerator and the PCI bus board. I doubt that Elbox would be able to interface it with the Blizzard PPC miniPCI either, for the same reason that Hyperion can't support the GREX. |

| I'm not overly excited by this... but alas, it's nice to see support for OS4 and vice versa.
I won't shell out for another Mediator, I know that much

Never going to happen. It's more than 6 years since it was announced, the market is a fraction of what it was (and it was small then!), the product is out of production and wouldn't meet ROHS specs.

I would have thought that the cards could have done DMA to chip mem, at least. Since chip mem isn't in use for graphics at that point, using it for ethernet, USB and sound might kinda almost make sense.
And if an accelerator had come along that mapped 4/8MB (depending on whether the user wants to use PCMCIA memory) of FAST mem as Zorro-II memory, that would have rocked. But alas. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

| I wonder if putting 1MB or so of memory directly on the Mediator, and using it as a DMA buffer rather than messing with the gfx board memory, would have solved all these issues... It should atleast avoid the need for a gfxboard just to be able to use a whatever-board. |
