Lucky me that didn't see this news until now, and even better: I'm have no use for it until this weekend and therefore I automatically get around this mess with crashing servers and slow downloads and buggy scripts

Great work Hyperion!!

Here the same problem. MiniGL examples open a window and then freeze the computer (µA1).
I don't know, if this has something to do with the new SDK/MiniGL, but the demo of the game SOMS3D runs slower than before and freezes after a while. It ran fine before (can't remember, if this was before OS update #3)...

@Hyperion

Am I missing something or "-lauto" flag doesn't work as it did before?

In previous version (sdk51.5, gcc-3.4.2) linkage worked fine with "-lauto -L. -lraauto",
Now I have to use "-lauto -lamiga -L. -lraauto" to use amiga_lib finctions.

Note: the sdk was installed over the previous version.

BTW: 10x for the update
Jack

Beg your pardon? How is a statically linked MiniGL going to be affected by a shared version in the SDK?

Guys, can you test if MiniGL demos in sdk:local/documentation/minigl/examples work? I'm asking because my setup (mA1-C) is freezing with these new demos. I would appreciate if people with Warp3D capable cards would give a spin. Thanks.

You can probably guess already that I have no such problems here...

@Rogue, yes. I want your machine ;) Do you have a 7000 or mA1 to test with?

Complete freeze here, no Grim Reaper or anything. G4XE with Radeon 7000.

Chris

@Chris_Y

I just get a total freeze as well. Doing a soft reset just gives me a corrupted screen so I have to do a hard reset.

I've got a standard u-A1-C.

Kind regards,

Francis

Hard lock on the MiniGL demos here too. Standard µA1C.

Work OK here except that bounce only produces a window that's completely black except for the borders. Apart from that though, there's weird "hot air" kind of effect that seems to affect the whole WB screen while the examples are running, that's less noticeable with the lower resolutions and not at all noticeable in 320x256...

@Guys, thank you very much. I'm not alone :(

Ok, what about this. Run this program before MiniGL examples:

http://www.student.oulu.fi/~jniemima/amiga/w3dtest

Do they work now? Here they work so this is a *mystery*.

@Salass:

Hmm...I saw Bounce demo working yesterday, but now it opens a black window only.

@Mr_Capehill!

w3dtest works, starts at at least 40 fps and settles at 27, my signature has machine specs. Gears from new SDK brings (apparently typical) grey window and instant lockup (edit:) with threads.library 1.4. I copied the 1.5 version over from the SDK and at least gears and gears2 work. Bounce remains dark..

There is a strange vibration to the graphics though, while running the minigl examples.

@Thematic: thanks for notifying that threads.library is V1.5. I had 1.3!

But that doesn't help here. (is it used btw?)

I *need* to run my Warp3D test app before MiniGL app to avoid freeze/lock with grey window.

I reduced code from my example so that it doesn't even draw a thing. It just needs to LockHardware() N times (dunno know N, 1 is not enough at least) and then MiniGL works here. Crazy.

EDIT: Try "bounce -nocull", seems to make the ball visible here.

Probably the same thing I have here...

Works OK here without running this w3dtest thing...

I'll try it when I'm near the µA1-C again (later today)...

@Salass:

Strange. Which WB resolution do you have? Which monitor tooltypes? I have 1280*960*32 (but tried *16 as well).

My active (Radeon) monitor tooltypes are:

SOFTSPRITE=Yes
IGNOREMASK=Yes
FAKENATIVEMODES=Yes
INTERRUPT=Yes

My stacksize seems to be ~128KB.

WB res is 1280x1024x32 @ ~75Hz refresh rate. I have:
IGNOREMASK=Yes
FAKENATIVEMODES=Yes
INTERRUPT=Yes

SOFTSPRITE is commented out...

I was going to try your suggestion with the -nocull option but it seems I'm suffering from the same problem as you now. Now when I try to run any of the demos I get a crash of the OS and have to cold reset in order to continue using the A1 (warm reset by CTRL-AMIGA-AMIGA isn't enough)...

Where can I find this "w3dtest" program you mentioned previously? I'll try and turn off and back on the A1 now to see if I can get them working again (I mean they *did* work yesterday after all )...

Work OK now for some reason, and I didn't do anything... Seems to be a little random whether they will work or not...

@Salass, please check the link in my earlier post.

There MUST be some explanation why it worked for you before. Can you remember which software you ran before trying MiniGL stuff? I know it sounds crazy but it seem to have some connection.

And yes, warm reset is not enough to get over the freeze. OTOH, when MiniGL stuff works, they also will work over the next warm reset.

It's only my theory (I expect the Friedens to correct me here ;) but I think that the W3D / Radeon driver goes into certain state in where it works with MiniGL.

Well here it wasn't (enough that is). With warm reset I only got a corrupt looking screen. With some weird text and such. Another warm reset only produced a slightly different corrupt screen (OS didn't seem to want to boot at all).

With the "-nocull" option the bounce demo now seems to work OK, except that it's much too fast and I can see it drawing onto the display (there's lots of flicker on the boing ball)...
