| Plz give [us] some screenshots. I`d like to see how OS4.1 looks like!
I have seen 1st versions have Dropshadows and finally OS4 start to look great!
Just some better icon theme set & cool background & make iMac-like toolbar [optionally, does not need to be enabled by default] and Amiga will be fantastic again! :) :) :)
Great job Huperion! Keep it up! Without you, Miggie will die!
p.s. I have just set up WinUAE on his Laptop to print to PostScript printer [HPLJ6MPlus] using USB cable convertor. I am very happy and my father too, he knows to work [type and print] only Amiga :) _________________ nykk | deetronic.rs | youtube.com/djnykk | gfx.river | mamavolibebu.com

| Still no response from hyperion site.. Can we please get some alternative download location? I dont see how this will fix itself unless hyperion somehow significantly upgrade their servers. It is even impossible to even get to login site, and i doubt people will stop hitting refresh until they actually got it downloaded which is more or less impossible right now.
I think they should at least setup some alternative FTP or something with username/password protection. |

| Site has been completely down for almost 24 hours now... very amateurish if you ask me. They should upload this thing to Aminet or upgrade their servers. It's not that ten thousands of people are trying to access it, just some hundreds. Server should be able to handle this. |

| I hate being a whiner, but it's way too long for the site to be down for a, if not small, not large number of users of OS 4.1 . A password protected ftp sounds like a good idea, is it too hard to setup or is there a security problem with ftp (vs protected http) that I'm not aware of? |

To get to the download on the Hyperion site, you need to log in and have a copy of OS4.1 associated (ie registered) with your account. Simply having a password protected ftp would be more open to abuse.
Don't get me wrong, I'm itching to get my hands on it too but can't at the moment. Its just a case of Keep Calm and Carry On.Last edited by Jamie_S on 15-Jan-2010 at 04:44 PM.

| Hyperion could so easily fix this situation: Create a Bit Torrent for the ISO, and then make the Bit Torrent downloadable as an alternative to the ISO. Instead of their server having to supply a 100MB+ file to 100s of people, it would only have to supply a 10KB file.
As only registered users would be able to get this Bit Torrent file, there would be no "security" issues (not that I see any for Sam users, since they *had* to buy OS4.1 with it by definition).
edit: Another way would be to make Update 1 ISO an XOR of the original OS4.1 CD ISO, and distribute this XOR as a public Bit Torrent (and/or allow others to host it). A simply program could create an ISO from the original CD, and then XOR it with the XOR image to recreate Update 1 ISO. Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2010 at 05:08 PM.
