Software News   Software News : AmigaOS 4.1 QuickFix Available
   posted by Rogue on 21-Jun-2009 14:09:30 (22562 reads)
Antwerp, Belgium – June 21, 2009

Hyperion Entertainment announces the immediate availability for download of a new “Quickfix” package for all versions of AmigaOS 4.1 (i.e. AmigaOne, SAM/SAM Flex and Pegasos II).

The new “Quickfix” package is available for registered users of AmigaOS 4.1 and incorporates the first “Quickfix” package released earlier this year.

Features include:

* Improved overall system stability
* Fixed shared object handling especially for larger applications
* Fixed Radeon Warp3D graphics drivers
* Increased performance of IDE drivers
* Fixed JXFileSystem issues with file scanning
* Fixed Sam440ep ethernet driver to work with hubs and Envoy.

Installation of the new “Quickfix” package is highly recommended.

@Ned

I hate to say this, because you've already changed the battery, but...

Prior to any battery change, you should printout your uboot variables, to help assist in recovery for any that might get lost.

nvgetvar > prt:
or
nvgetvar > [path/filename]

The space after nvgetvar should be included or you will get the system volume requester for assign. The 2nd space is optional.

is there a nice handy guide explaining exactly what needs to be set in uboot to what values?

Keeping your own variables in a file for later review is probably the closest we have to a FAQ on that.

Sorry to hear about your audio. Nothing immediately springs to my mind as to cause.

Already I installed the Quick Fix in my Sam and I tested it with the game "I have No Tomatoes" and now it show the background before it showed the green but the great surprise for me have been the game ChromiumBSU because now the sprites are show correctly because before the quickfix the sprites are showed with a strange trasparency, and this is all the Sam works very fine thank you Hyperion guys you are go for the good way.

@number6

I have fixed my audio problems. When I reasssembled my uA1c after replacing the battery and then hooked up all the cables, I plugged the wrong speaker cable into the machine. When I plugged the right cable into the uA1c, my audio came back to life. Sorry for the panic.

@Templario and @ Thread

So did you manage to test these games on your hardware :

Quake 3
Heretic 2
Shogo
Red Alert
Paypack
Nemac 4 (works, but aventually after 2nd DSI, no sound, but still playable)

And were you able to either

A : Run them
B : Run them but still recieve a DSI with an eventual crash or ISI forcing Reboot
C : Get stuck on the Intro

And which game did what out of the ones you were able to test?

Payback works (as before) & Quake3 now works (at correct walking speed & without green). I have not tested them for long though.

It seems that maybe my payback does not work for other reasons then?

Is there a way to get rid of the intro, maybe then it would paly? Same with the red alert?

ALSO

Although NEmac 4 Works, it eventually is working without any sound, and say it can not find a newer version of Picasso than 0.9, strange thing is, im in the 2.x range with my picasso?

CHeers

P.S. My quake3 doesnt run any faster really, do you have a radeon GFX card installed? A I am using the onboard sam gfx.

Cheers

I have mentioned several times (in other threads, and check Amigans.net too) how to get Payback to work on OS4.1. But yes, the Intro does not work on OS4.1, so you must have the CD ejected when you start Payback.
