I'm just realistic. It would be great to have OO on Amiga (even if a recent web-browser is much more important) but it's lots of code. We have delays on much easier software so why shall i belive this time it will be better? IIRC there was allready an attempt to port OO.

I'll pre-heat the oven then, I believe I've got a recipe lying around here somewhere...

@OO-team

While I won't be holding my breath for this one, I'll certainly be cheering you on from the sideline. And I'll be looking forward to running this great office-suite on OS4

Being realistic is a good thing, so is being sceptical, but sometimes you just gotta cross your fingers, trust your fellow amigans & hope for the best

OO is a rock in the river. The river goes around the rock, but eventually the rock wears down. The chip away theory works best on these undertakings.

We may not see the whole of OO ported for some time, but I can see parts of it developing on the way and eventually it will happen. "Just think that bridge will be there and it will be there! No negative vibes!" Good luck with the port and I will definitly be running it when it becomes available. Thanks for getting the ball rolling!

IT CAN'T BE DONE

There!..... now you're gonna have to prove me wrong aren't you . So you'd better get started ..chop chop!. no time to waste you know

See! The motivation behind negative posts can also be positive.

Seriously though, You need to get a few more devs and keep them comitted. It will be hard to keep the momentum going but nothing is impossible. It just needs dedication!

Good luck guys!

valwit: well to put it mildly i belive more in this project than other projects lately and i back that up with a huge amount of cash , now its your time to do something instead of just bitching.

but yes you are right , we need people like you here too just to make us land on our feet from time to time .

Also please show me where this old Amiga OOo project where held and who was responsible for the effort, i'm not 100% into things like this but i for sure follow Amiga stuff more than most others around.

have fun and no this wasnt an attack or anything

@toaks

There was an attempt in the past (late '90s) but it failed, the maintainer lost intrest, or couldn't get coders together, something like that.

I don't think any code was actually written, but i could be wrong, it's a long time ago

@ToAks

And here's the link to the still existing website.
The maintainer was Volker Grabbe. Never heard of him, except this project.

BTW: I never liked the logo, jus too much window-ish

Today's motivational quotation:

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, comitted people can change the world.
Indeed it is the only thing that ever has."

@ Amon_Re

I don't think that applie to us. Amiga users are the smartest, most descerning, most creative of all computer users. And it certainly cannot be talking about our programmers as they are talented, skilled and innovative and tend to clump into small teams, or to code alone. So, I'd have to say I like my quote better.

I want to post some encouragement too.
I definitely think AmigaOS need such port like this, OOo and a lighweight ala "amiga style" port of mozilla.
so i wish ppl the best luck and patience!
i too cross the fingers for it, even though i don't use office apps for myself, i beleive it will give serious credibility to our beloved OS. aand help bring back ppl or even new users.

and best of all the frieden bros. are on this one too..
so great news around OS4 lately !! :)
keep up the good work
and our os will once more be able to unleash its magic

I think both are equally important for a common user. There are only two app reasons I need to use the damn Debian on my A1: competent browsing and competent Word&XLS&PPT compatible text processing. I need both the same much.

@OS4 OO developpers

Wish you luck, guys! A powerful text processing is definitely something I would like to support with money! Hope your effort would bring us all the fruit!

@kvinkunx

About the same here...
There is only very few things that course me to need GNU/Linux on my AmigaOne...
Mozilla Firefox with JavaVM (for example for my homebanking).
OpenOffice.org/AbiWord (for document writing/editing).
a Posix Shell and some other development tools.

Lets hope that we are going to see everything on AmigaOS4 ASAP

Is the mailing list having issues, or is adding members a manual process? Tried joining the list 2x now, no success....?
