and what about the static SDL?
OS4 has no shared lib atm. |
This is no problem. What the static version of SDL precludes is linking any non-free software against it. It's okay to distribute or sell GPL code linked with a static libSDL.
To fulfill the terms of the GPL, AmigaKit would have to make the source code that was used to build their binary of ScummVM available to anybody who asks for it. This means the exact source versions of ScummVM, libSDL, libmad, etc. that were used.

| Curse Of Monkey Island!!! Cool!
I already have this game for the pc so I will think twice to buy it again. But on the other side, I'am trying to use my pc no more since I have my AmigaOne (best computer related investment in years) so why don't buy the game?
It's not that expensive.

ScummVM OS4 sources should be in the CVS, libSDL sources on Richard's homepage, libmad and stuff were configure-make ports (non-changed). |

| I still think monkey island 1 is the best, and maybe monkey island 4 second best.
Monkey island 3 is nice, but I thought it still was a tiny bit buggy in scummvm on os4? |

| I think that Monkey Island are "best" in this order:
1, 2, 3, 4 :)
I haven't played 4 through yet but looks and feels horrible :(
There are no known bugs with Monkey 3 on ScummVM OS 4. |

| amigamagia: monkey island 3 is the best , then monkey 1 and 2 and last monkey 4...that sucks!
(3, 1, 2,4 ...imo the 4th shouldnt even be mentioned...its pathetic!..)
as for monkey island 3 on OS4 , not a single problem here and i have completed it several times in both modes....
so what did u have problems with?
the old scummVM from last year (0.6.x) was buggy indeed (no playable imo) but not the new one from april 2005 and if you had problems why didnt u report back? Last edited by Toaks on 23-Jun-2005 at 10:05 AM.

| Hmm, I might not have tested scummvm from april 2005. I used it for Beneath a Steel Sky as that was very playable, and I never played that game with speech earlier, well a bit on the cd32 but it was too heavy for the cd32 in a way.
I don't remember so much from mi3 except log throwing, a hot beach, some guy selling juice, grim fandango and a diving contest. I think mi4 is much more connected to the first game than mi3 is connected to mi1, that's why I like mi4.
But mi1 is still my nr.1 :) |

| This is good news indeed. One of the best adventures games ever made is back to the Amiga. I only played the first Monkey Island game a little bit but i saw how the game is good among my friends. They loved the Monkey Island games but unfourtenately most of them don't own and Amiga anymore and one has a A1200 and never took it out of the box for years now. I sincerely hope that many people here in Portugal that might still use an Amiga or a AmigaONE with OS4 that buy this game, since is one of the best series ever made for the Amiga.
If any fellow Portuguese people are reading this, and if you have an AmigaONE with OS4 (preferably with the latest update from Hyperion) order this game. I've played the demo on Windoze once and liked it. Go on... it'll help the Amiga (i hope)! Last edited by Zontrox on 23-Jun-2005 at 12:14 PM.

| Aye, that is the correct order. 3, 1, 2, 4.
Number 3 was incredibly good: Fantastic humor, great graphics, and very, very good music. They got everything right with that one.
Number 1 was a great classic, full of originality and humor, as well as great retro-style graphics and music.
Number 2 was more of the same, although with a somewhat weaker story.
Number 4 was...ok. It fell into the "everything must be 3D or it won't sell"-trap, and suffered from it. It lost a lot of its charm, and some of the puzzles were also a bit weak (good old "use everything with everything" had to be applied there...). I don't think it was a terrible game, though. Just a bit disappointing after MI3.
Not that 3D point-and-click adventure games have to fail. Grim Fandango was brilliant.

Saying the source code is available at such and such a place isn't enough. AmigaKit would have to provide the source code on CD to anybody who requested it.

Not true Broken Sword 3 is every bit as good as the first two 2D games and I would highly recommend it to any adventure game fans.
I’ll admit I found some of the action sequences a bit annoying as I am not a big fan of action games and to me they just felt like padding but they were no worse than action sequences in Fate of Atlantis.
But I agree that Monkey Island 3 was the best Monkey Island game to date.
I would also love to see Amiga installer packages / CD’s for broken sword 1 and 2 for the PC as they are both very good. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar
