Software News   Software News : DvPlayer 0.48 Released
   posted by COBRA on 16-Oct-2005 0:06:59 (6547 reads)
I'm happy to announce that a new version of DvPlayer is now available and can be downloaded from the DvPlayer website. The website has now been moved to a new and faster host: http://dvplayer.amigarevolution.com, many thanks to Kyle Kivi (NeRP) for hosting the DvPlayer homepage.

Changes since the previous release:

- Implemented on-the-fly scaling of 2:1 aspect movies
- Added a workaround for the short buffer AHI problem
- Added support for non-interleaved AVI files
- Many fixes and improvements in the AVI code (prebuffering, etc.) to solve problems with most AVI files
- Added triplebuffer for fullscreen
- Added 32bit fullscreen support
- Added possibility to change the skin on-the-fly
- Added Audio Boost option
- Many more small improvements and bugfixes

Hi,

One feature i`d like to see added is a tooltype to set a default movie directory. Other than that DVPlayer is great.

@deakmann

Yes, and as a option why not remember the last path used?

Where are all the options? Brightness, contrast and more?

@Toaks

Yes, I saw those new tooltypes, but none of them made any change
that should make the black skin crash and not the others.
I have now added all relevant tooltypes and upped the stack to
200000 from 100000 from the old icon. Still no change, the black
skin trashes Workbench nevertheless.

Does the black skin work for you?

@Samwel

We may well be the only two who suffer from that problem.

At least i can think of a possible problem with my OS4-install unable to use the
latest ATIRadeon.chip from pre3. Your problem seems to be similar, lucky you it
didn't lock up your machine completely.

Nevertheless nice to have someone with me on that lonely road

@ToAks

Hey, i have problems too, are you ignoring me?

@Raziel

Seems only that skin trashes Workbench. None of the others do.

I have all updated files including the newer PCIGraphics.card
file from update 3.

I have no other problems with DvPlayer. It works flawless except
for that skin.

Update 3 with all files installed (eg. ATIRadeon.chip 51.12)
512 MB RAM

@Raziel

I just download and tried the black skin here,
guess wot?
Locks up!

All the other work fine so its gotta be a prob with the black skin.
If you open them all with multiview they all have a similar appearence window with text inside, then you open the black skin and have a look.
Its just a bar with no txt or window borders.

@Samwel

Due to a nice chap named Curty i am now able to use the full OS4pre3.
Complete with ATIRadeon.chip v51.12 like you.
BTW: He's there right above me , whoops, i mean

[edit]
Should have read your post fully Curty!
[/edit]

Sadly, it still locks up, but i can see there are others that DO have the same
problem.

@Curty

So we have PCI AND AGP users that suffer from the same problem.

@COBRA

Still i can't provide some crash logs, it completely locks up the system, maybe
@Samwel or some other can do a SnoopDos log?

@Raziel

SnoopDOS gives no help with this. The only thing it shows is loading of locale
stuff and the failed DitherHiColor settings for picture datatype.

I just checked the skin in MultiView. It seems the black skin is incomplete
that's why DvPlayer crashes. Check for yourselves, they are simply just PNG
files.

the black skin doesnt crash here , never has and this is why dvplayer was released (if it had crashed you guys wouldnt have had dvplayer 0.48 now) ...so i fail to see why it crashes since you guys use diffrent systems and gfx cards and so on.

?it might seem that this is related to pre release 3 or some hack you guys are using, please try from a clean update 3 install (anyone please...) with no hacks or whatever installed.

cobra is away this week so you wont reach him before he is back (not even per mail).

@raziel , no i am not ignoring you, i just plucked one of the comments and heh..

@Toaks

Well I downloaded mine from the archive in OS4Depot. I hope it's not broken
in that archive?!

I'll try to unpack it again and maybe download it once more to see if I can get a
working skin file.

@Toaks

Btw what file size does your black skin have?

Mine is 10015 bytes while the white is 30033 bytes.

I have tried to redownload the archive, but no change.
The black skin seems to have only the bottom part of the
skin, i.e. the play control buttons. None of the other three
skins are like this (they have complete windows with text
inside). And this seems to thrash DvPlayer somehow.

Btw I have a pretty clean install of Update3, just a couple
of utils in WBStartup. Nothing that does any real patching
I think.

EDIT: Hey I just saw your posts now Curty

@Toaks

So your black skin is not 10015 bytes?

I just download the archive from OS4Depot with IBrowse 2.3.
Then unarchive it with.. Ehh I must be really tired I can't remember
the tools name I mean the standard OS unarchiver
No errors or whatever, it just creates the file as 10015 bytes every
time.

Please download the archive from OS4Depot and try again.
You shouldn't be able to get different file size when unarchiving the
very same file.
It simply must be broken on OS4Depot..
