Fantastic news, now all we need is a stand alone external MIDI player.

What do you mean by "a stand alone external MIDI player"?

This is exciting news, especially if someone can help Alfred update the look of the program a little. I bought virtually all versions of B&P Pro in the day and have tinkering with the latest 1.25 version.

One program people are missing is the VERY exciting HD-Rec, quietly being perfected (and I don't use this term lightly) by Thilo Koehler. It's a audio/MIDI sequencer with dozens of real-time effects (they work perfectly, yes, in real-time using a lowly 800mhz Amitlon setup), a polished, modern GUI, and a wonderful Plug-Ins.

Try out the demo on his website at www.hd-rec.de

Good to hear that B&P will be ported to OS4. BTW, HD-Rec looks quite well too...

Saluditos,

This is, of course, great!

However, I wonder where the hell Hyperion found a uA1.

Probably borrowed it from a dev or beta tester. I would imagine it's on loan, not for keeping.

How about Hyperion donating a board to the guy porting Khtml ? his reason for not also porting it for OS4 was "i dont have a A1 board" a decent browser is more important than some half professional audio software.

What I mean is a MIDI file player that is independant of any music program such as bars&pipes, HDrec etc that will play the music in standard MIDI format, eg PlayMidi 3 or MidiPlayer.
The only player we have is Simpleplay but this is an internal sotfsynth only, by external I mean the ability to play on MIDI keyboards and modules pluged into the A1 externaly.

Just FYI, Bars and Pipes was one of the greatest sequencers ever produced for any platform.
One of the strengths of the Amiga of old was its sequencing software (note I didn't say music programs
due to the lack of a powerful composing program). The area of a home music studio is a relatively "easy"
focus to help gain strength for the platform. Unfortunately, web browser development is a much broader area.

Well, Dr. T's KCS Level II was definitely an innovative sequencer, and Bars&Pipes brought the powerful concept of tools (= MIDI plugins). However, the OCS screen resolution turned out to be a seriously limiting factor, and made many people leave for the Atari ST and, later, PCs.
