I have never had this problem with Opera. The reformatting is really good.

Wow! Great work!

Works on my Sony Ericsson P900 wap browser and of course Opera Browser.
Runs great on Opera on my Zaurus and on Netfront on CLIE UX50.

Even my old Psion browser does show me the relevant infos I need!

BTW it even works on Amiga browsers

And now rumor time
does this mean an AMIGA OS4 PPC PDA is to be published soon?

@DaveyD

Great work

Now all I need is an OS4 enabled PDA and it would be a charm

Oh and I almost died when I saw the news thinking that it was OS4 on that thing.
You realy shouldn't play with people like that, I have a weak heart you know.

@Teddy

Yeah, PDA running OS4 would rock, OS4 is probably smaller than Windows Mobile OS

@MasterOfReality

Interesting, Opera seems to remove the cell colours, UIQ keeps the cell colours but removes the table columns

Is there any way to automatically add the Here to
create a default labeled "Here" for each url entered?

Yes... Opera is very much geared towards reformatting "normal" sites for the small screen and ignores cell colours (and text colours, in many cases) to ensure that sites are readable in the (very) small font it uses.

The built in browser on the UIQ platfrom is really a wml browser that understands html tags. More of a "this will definitely work on Vodafone Live! and it might just let you check out Ebay" approach.

haha here it is on my 'pda'

Bit of a shoddy photo but it was done in a rush. Feel the power of Opera running on a Psion Revo

Muy bien, AW.net!! Very cool stuff!

When I saw the headline in the RSS feed, I thought that there had been another binge&purge (in the finest of British traditions!) of dormant user accounts... but this is much better!

One thought regarding the long URLs which won't wrap: instead of converting a pasted URL into a hyperlink automagically, why not have a little bit of code that replaces the URL text with the work "link" (but converted to a hyperlink to the relevant URL)?
Is there a requirement to ever show a URL as the actual string? The only time that I think it may be useful is if you ever wish to show a comparison of two addresses (e.g. to point out an error, or something)...

I haven't try on my PDA (HP2110) yet (it's currently in my car running TomTom5) I will try tonight...

Also I tried on my PC (Win2K-MSIE6_SP2), and it seems I can read but can not Post !...

@DaveyD,

I am just wondering...
Could it work on this kind of Mobile (LG8380) ?
If not is there any plans to make it work ?

Jerry

I just checked out for your user agent, and it seems to be this one:
LGE-CU8380/1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0
So, you are running UP.Browser (Openwave's browser which is to be found on more than 50% of phones today).

Just a few minutes ago I sent some autodetection keywords to David, and I guess when he comes back from work tonight he will be incorporating them to this site, and so your phone would be automatically redirected to the pda.amigaworld.net mobile site.

But even without autodetection, by going manually to the pda.amigaworld.net URL it SHOULD work just fine, as your browser is pretty capable and can do basic HTML.

I keep pointing my handleld device at amigaworld, but all I get is embarrased and weird looks from my workmates. Everyone says it does look small, though.

Oh! Now I get it.. a PDA! Still, was worth a laugh I guess

Here are two browsers on phones, I used their latest emulators. The site needs some work to better accomodate the Motorola ROKR browser.

Ok, here is my husband's Sony Ericsson K700i phone, running the native SE browser. The site renders ok, but the logo is too wide and it doesn't fit on screen. Everything else fits. The screen is a 176x220 one.

BTW, it would be nice to remove the initial space before the "home" link and maybe any other excess spaces, so the menu bar fits on 176x220 screens. This is the resolution that most "feature phones" use today. Cheaper phones are still at 128x128 or 128x160 and smartphones are shooting for QVGA these days.

I tried it in my Sonyericsson K750i and it works ok!

I can login and read the forums but I can`t read the comments of the news. I tested it over six minutes surfing the web and used only 120kb of GPRS data.

I will try pda.amigaworld.net with my PSP at work later!

I just had a thought... what inspired this bit of development?

*gasp* Could it be that it's an effort to head-off any criticism that the official OS4 forums don't work on an browser on a PDA running OS4?

Does this imply that OS4 is nearly ready?
Does this imply that OS4 is up and running on a PDA?

Can we have a screenshot of OS4 running on a PDA, showing AW.net on its browser? (Even if the logo/characteristic features of the PDA are hidden/cropped/blurred)? Pretty please?

/rapidly cranking the handle of the rumour mill...

P.S. Has anyone tested Hyperion's website on a PDA?

So, you are using this:
SIE-MC60/10 Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0 UP.Browser/6.1.0.7.3 (GUI) MMP/1.0 UP.Link/5.1.1.5a
Which is an older version of Openwave's UP.Browser. It might work well or it might not. With version 6.1.x it all depends if that build was good or not... You will have to test it yourself...
