This sounds like a brilliant idea. You could do some really funky things with it. For example, you could modify the local files for your website, and then using (say) my FolderSync program (old version on Aminet) to automatically update the files on your real web site!

I hope to try it out some time. BTW, MountFTP has (IIRC) some major limitations on what FTP sites it can mount (passive/active?), which prevented me from using it to backup my Psion (running an FTP server) by FTP.

I'd also be interested in a WebDAV client for AmigaOS as well!!

Forgot to tell you, FolderSync doesn't seem to work at all with OS4, and it doesn't work with FTPMount either (as discussed previously). I have a little script - on Aminet somewhere, but curiously not in my software database - which uploads files that have changed using FTPMount. You can't do this through HTTP generally (although WebDAV would probably do it).

Doh! I got carried away trying to think of a cool example quickly. But it could still be used by something like GetAllHTML (rewriting it should be childs play, if anyone wants to have a go).

I'm not so sure about the old Aminet version, but it ought to - it's completely system legal. Unless AmigaE compiled code doesn't work on OS4?

Chris_Y this is just a brilliant approach to things.

I have been trying to get a site mounted in Amifile or even on the desktop without luck (fine through shell by the way).

Is there a trick? Or could there be way to do this in the future?

I love the idea as 40% of my net time is simply looking to see if something has been updated, or downloading rather than browsing, and this is just perfect for some of this.

No, you can't do it. AmigaOS uses the commands Lock() and Examine() to determine whether something is a directory or a file, so this is a prerequisite for getting http-handler to work as a filesystem.

Unfortunately, every component of a path in a URL can be treated as a file. While I have no way of telling whether something is supposed to be treated as a directory or a file, there is no way of giving the correct information to Examine(), and file browsing will not work.

Oh, and there is no way to get a list of files in a directory over HTTP, so such a feature will have limited use anyway.
