@Petah

You must be kidding right? :) MorphOS is an AmigaOS, it' s just not THE AmigaOS.
Anyway this news item is Amiga related either way, this KHTML based CSS-able browser can run in AmigaOS 4.0 (through MOSemu if Crumb is right)

@hatschi

Thanks for posting some screenshots. I've been quite eager to see the result of marciks work. It's looking pretty good eh? Looks like its a bit bare on features currently, but the hard work has been done.. the rendering engine is looking great!

Fact: That "foreign OS" uses the AmigaOS API. A MorphOS port means that you can port to *ANY* other AmigaOS related platform with most of the work already done for you. I cannot possibly see HOW you cannot see the relevance of that to AmigaOS.

@Petah

All news-items are approved manually, and since this is approved, then it is ok as a news item on aw.net.
If we (staff), think something is not a news item suitable for aw.net, then we don't approve them in the first place.

Congratulations and well done to Marcik.

@MOS users:
You lucky beggars.

We paid for Sputnik with a bounty, man!

You of AmigaOS are so trashy bums you can't set up the same.

Just because it is a program that could be ported into AmigaOS by crosschanging only two or more libraries???

Foreign?

You are at this point of hatred and "snobbish" AOS elite-ism? Came on, man! Go walking the streets and get a life.

Or let's do something useful for AmigaOS. Let raise a bounty to keep Sputnik ported on your OS.

Facts, not words...

what's the point?.............

Not that I care much, but lately I'v gotten tired of this "fight" between different persons wich just comes out with "bad" comments about the OS one chose, be it AOS4 or MOS, it's realy no point in this..............it used to be a fun thing to check out on updates regarding the Amiga in general, but as more and more comments like this is evolving, it just seem sad.........Sorry to say so but I realy don't see the point in it......:)

EDIT;:

@Marcik

Great work, and if you decide to make it available to OS4 I'd welcome it, as it seem to be a very nice product....:)

Wow. I didn't expect to see this so soon. Well done Marcik. I hope that the AWeb guy(s?) download the LGPL source and get to work.

I realise that comment was intended in a light hearted way, but did you know that os4-interested people have donated already? wegster put in $200 alone.

If marcik decides a free AmigaOne and a new bounty is all thats required for an os4 sputnik port, then count me in.

@Jahc

He published a screenshot running a MorphOS native demo with it, so it seemed quite mature back then imho.

Now we just need to find an AmigaOne for him somewhere....

The point is HUMOR.

Yoodoo2 called us Morphers "lucky beggars" with all the simpathy, and I answered him with a smile that you of AmigaOS are "trashy bums".

Read carefully before going offended or upset.

Congrats Marcik!

Now please consider what you need to do an OS4 version.

Since you don't want it to be commercial AFAIK, wouldn't it be clever to set up a bounty allready now.
Just state the minimum $$$ it will have to reach and offcourse the terms (should be the same for all platforms IMHO).

Guess a port won't take that much time so I think a bounty should be setup ASAP.

@Raffaele

What's the point of this comment? This us against them attitude is getting really tired, you know? I'm happy that browser was released, even if just for MOS. I don't get any kicks in another platform losing out on something.

And, IIRC, there were many OS4 users that contributed to said bounty.

Yep, the rendering engine is indeed running very well. I am able to visit a lot of websites that AWeb/IBrowse were unable to display properly.
But it's important to stress that the browser is IMHO still in "early alpha" status. Thus, it is not stable enough for "daily webbrowsing" and many features are still missing. There is no cache yet, no menu options except for "Prefs", no cookie support, etc.
But as I said, the first (huge!) step is taken and I can't thank Marcik enough for the work he did.
