Software News   Software News : AMIGIFT 2.0 PRE-Release
posted by Kicko on 2-Jul-2007 21:15:04 (6496 reads)
There is a new pre-release available, which indeed should work LOTS better than previous builds! (mainly some bugs fixed on the daemon which has made previous builds to lost connections and related issues, being uploads working again as well, in the GUI side, giFTMui should be very stable, and we are about to affirm nearly bug-free...almost, or that we hope)

Check the website details for further info, and please dont forget to read carefully the text files as stated.

Thanks to all users who bring us its support, and to everyone for your patience with the slow amigift development.

Kind Regards.

Yours Diego

It's a peer 2 peer file sharing program. For downloading media usually, such as music or video.

NBache: I forgot to mentation that it was an p2p program for filesharing.
I wrote that more info can be seen on website ;) and to read carefully ?!!

FRAmiga: I have had powerpc.library and the key renamed for a longer time thanks to your warnings. I tested latest to have the libs in sys:libs without luck. The only thing i can see snoopdos is showing not haing cmanager.library.
But that we really dont need.

Thanks a lot for your tests McFly, that proves the problem isn't os4-final (as it was successfully reported as working under os4-lastbeta only), but a "random" issue...

About the libs issue, I only can think atm of such thing happening if you run amigift from a root of a partition.. and at time we use ParentDir() checking against NULL when indeed such function could return null indicating the root... this is already fixed to the next build.

diegocr @ AmiKit

As I said in the ML:

I try the last release on my AmiKit machine but I have two
problems:

1 - When I try to copy the last version, i can't use AmiGift
2.0 Beta att all (your previous release from 30-04-2007 works fine) but
the new release show me an error at startup (can't open application)

2 - So today I update my AmiKit installation trying the automatic
installer thanks to the last update of AmiKit (1.3.6) it works ok, but
when I try to connect with the daemon I get a strange Guru Meditation

Error: 8000 0002
Task: 1162D790

Yep, I realize that. I did actually read the page you linked to, but it mostly talked about the new features, not much about what it was in the first place. And by then I was confused enough to give up the search . Thanks also to Framiga for pointing me towards the very good .readme. Now I'm *much* better informed.

Looks like an impressive system (although I don't have any use for it myself).

Best regards,

Niels

@samo79

and as said on the ML:

This could happen if the window width is bigger than your screen width (short story, read full details on the ML)

rename amigift:images/amigift.gif and keep out your catalog as well

next open giftmui and go to the MUI settings, configure ToolBar.mcc to show "only icons"

now save setings and exit

restore the gif anim and your catalog

It should work now!

PS: I think we should try to replace ToolBar.mcc by TheBar.mcc......maybe.

Edit: BTW, when you told "can't open application" I assumed what you mean to say is "can't open window" !...
