| Thanks for the link samo79. I'll patiently wait for the OS4 version. _________________ --------- AmigaClyde

| Good for MorphOS-guys. The father of Amiga-style OS should still earn a good Browser port for the OS4. Waiting for IBrowse,OWB,Sputnik&AWeb,Amizilla(money donated). Who wins? Hopefully a Firefox+Ibrowse-stylish thing. Using IB 2,4 ATM with A1 and Firefox (PC)for the sites that don't work. All the best & lots of energy for all the coders wishes PR. |

It is not the wrapper that is slow, it is the very idea of WarpOS that is slow and complicated to program for. No developer in their right mind would target WarpOS when they can target the API directly and targetting WarpOS would not have the effect you want anyway, it would not in any conceivable way mean that the application would run everywhere any more than it already does. Sputnik uses MUI4, Reggae and other things that are not available on OS4, Marcik will port what necessary and replace what cannot be ported in order to make it run on OS4. To do that, he will probably use other APIs that aren't available on MorphOS instead. None of these APIs are available for WarpOS and the problem of porting between the two OSes has absolutely nothing to do with the difficulty (the what?) of recompiling for different targets once the application is ported. A WarpOS port that runs on OS4 would just be a silly kludge that goes through the WarpOS API (if that's actually possible to the extend it's needed) to access the OS4 API and not run on MorphOS and a WarpOS Sputnik that runs on MorphOS would be a silly kludge that goes through the WarpOS API to access the MorphOS one and not run on OS4. What exactly is gained from that? Yes, code complexity, bugs, worse efficiency. What is NOT gained from that? A universal PPC AmigaOS binary. _________________
