| @xeron But why can't those browser windows exist on Workbench screen ? _________________ Rock lobster bit me. My Workbench has always preferences. X1000 + AmigaOS4.1 FE "Anyone can build a fast CPU. The trick is to build a fast system." -Seymour Cray

| Because I wanted the flexibility of multiple windows, with the ease of use of a 2 pane client (arrows etc).
Having your own screen and managing the windows means I can have the best of both worlds.
Try mFTP-II and see if you still want it to work that way. From what I remember, i found it messy. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6

You can use OS4 AmiFTP if you need a single window FTP program. However, it doesn't have SFTP support and some other features of PFTP. _________________ X1000 with 2GB memory & OS4.1FE

I don't get why some people are so desperate to have it all in one window anyway, |
1. Due to the limited amount of graphics card memory on some sytems, OS 4.1 users can be limited to small number of screens with compositing turned on. I have to watch my graphics card memory closely on my µA1.
2. Some of us like to group our Internet applications on a single screen.
That being said, I'd focus on perfecting the program before adding features like the ability to run on any public screen etc. _________________ X1000 with 2GB memory & OS4.1FE

| @xeron + Xenic I didn't mean a single window. I did mean using multiple windows on Workbench screen. Using multiple windows in a single app doesn't require a custom screen. _________________ Rock lobster bit me. My Workbench has always preferences. X1000 + AmigaOS4.1 FE "Anyone can build a fast CPU. | No, but i wanted the windows to be "managed". If you've used PFTP, you'll see what i mean. That makes it not really suitable for the WB screen. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6

I didn't either but my comment make it appear so. I really meant that there are valid reasons for wanting to run a program like PFTP on a named public screen (to include WorkBench it desired) instead of being limited to it's own screen. I run Jabberwocky on my AWeb public screen and it can have many windows open at the same time. I suppose that's easier to manage with MUI though.
If too many programs insist on using their own screen then graphics card memory can become a problem on a µA1 with OS 4.1 compositing turned on. I consider FTP to be a secondary Internet application and would prefer it run it on my Internet screen. My FTP needs are limited so I still have OS4 AmiFTP assigned to AWeb and IBrowse toolbar buttons so I can open it on my Internet screen. I may eventually find that I need SFTP and switch to PFTP for general use. _________________ X1000 with 2GB memory & OS4.1FE
