Announcement   Announcement : IMICA Silent shipping now and special offer for 25th Anniversary.
   posted by clusteruk on 16-Jul-2010 15:24:16 (5195 reads)
Firstly I am pleased to say I am now shipping the new IMICA Atom Silents units, and thanks to those who have put faith in the Atom based IMICA project. Below you will find three links to the "Getting Started with IMICA Silent part one to three episodes." Yes I know you need to have system running to do this but I also include the full video on the system disk as well.

Now to celebrate the Amiga's 25th Anniversary I am offering free delivery (saving 20), for the first 25 orders received before the end of this month at only 199.

Again, thanks to all those who have supported me in this project and I will do another normal video soon.

@Buzz

Whilst yes I am trying to be careful what I say, I do think people are not stupid, it is like supporting your home football team. I am a Luton Town supporter and for the English premier league fan I would be considered stupid as my team is right at the bottom of the leagues, whereas at one time they were in the top league. However, I will not change team and will just wait till they get better for the glory days.

In this situation I have an option to improve the chances of my team doing better in the outside world.

I bought my iMica yesterday because I am happy to support Stephen and Paolo's work in moving AROS forward.

Frankly, I don't expect to get much out of the iMica. I use high end PCs and Macs for my day to day computing and an iPhone and iPad for mobile browsing and casual gaming.

But I'll always be an Amiga fan and I would love to support AmigaOS4 as well if I didn't have to buy expensive, antiquated hardware to run it.

Thank you, but I am just collectiong the pieces and placing them together the right way

AROS coders, developers and users deserve much more appreciation than me =)

Anyway, if you don't expect too much from your iMica... you will be amazed when you'll discover what you'll actually get! AROS runs surprisingly well on Atom processors, fairly better than the most famous operating systems.

@paolone I think it's easy for developers to underestimate the amount of time it takes average users to collect the pieces and place "them together the right way."

By taking the guesswork out of the AROS installation, you're making it possible for everyone, regardless of technical expertise, to experience the possibilities of an Amiga-like OS running on modern hardware.

Grazie.

@Cluster
It will definitely have to be a laptop, netbooks are nice to bring along on holidays and such but screen and keyboard is really to small for my taste. Hate using my GF' netbook, ok it running windows might also have something to do with it

Just got my iMica set up and it is very nice. Totally silent; very responsive in high resolutions. So nice to have a dedicated AROS machine.

Way to go, ClusterUK!
