By the way: I don't like my "startup-sequence" altered by *any* application install script! This is a no-go! If you really have something that should be started during boot please use the "user-startup" and communicate this to the user - and give him the chance to do it himself manually! |
+1! that really annoyed me. that's what user-startup is good for. or even better the wbstartup! on os4 this is now even more easy without duplicating any data.

| Ok i have read this on amigans too. I suggested Fabio to don't activate it as standard on AmigaOS. Plus if then it could be handled via WBstartup.
BUT! The message you are talking about says that you didn't use the installer ; )
Can you please try to use the slow cpu flag and go to setting and choose the LessFX Theme? Maybe than it works well also with the scheduler in the background. Last edited by phoenixkonsole on 05-Dec-2010 at 06:09 PM.

| Yea sorry I was a bit quick of the mark there it works very well after applying the tweaks you mentioned. I love Hollywood and was surprised by the lack of speed in AMC. |

| I have a possible bug to report:
I installed AMC OK, (On OS4.1, SAM440EP) but when scanning for media, I get an error when scanning the OS4 partition:
So so far I can't actually test any further as I cannot add media _________________ Glass coffins, a success? Remains to be seen.

| Some more testing:
When browsing for media, I try to browse WORK: but I get a workbench requester asking to assign or mount it, seems it is looking for WORK : (Note the space between the WORK and the :)
Mplayer crashed with a DSI error when trying to switch TV channels, but that's more to do with Mplayer than AMC Last edited by AmigaOneProductions on 06-Dec-2010 at 11:27 PM.

| @Seiya Did you change the path of mplayer in your settings? I ask because the borders around the window.... shouldn't be there. AMC has a newer Version included, and a much faster one.
I realized that Stephen suggested Fabio to add this Version to IcAROS, i am unsure if he did. Last edited by phoenixkonsole on 06-Dec-2010 at 07:24 PM.

Do you know how long it will be before a fixed version will be released?

The fixed version is almost completed, there is only one more bug related with links. Tomorrow I will fix it and if there aren't no more problems (I hope so!) I'll publish a new fixed version
in short: one more day
After this quick fix I'll work on the installer and on the "Please don't touch my Startup-Sequence" problem
Ok, I'm just joking, you're right ;) _________________ ----- [Allanon] Fabio Falcucci AMC Website // Docs Site // Support Forum // => Patreon <=

| I know I'll get taken outside and stoned for this but.... The startup sequence being modified didn't bother me. I'm old school, I still remember the days when this got changed by third party programs all the time.
The bug fixes will do for me, thanks for the update. _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down.

| @Allanon Hi, I don't know if it's just my machine (G3SE), but from the moment it boots, AMC Scheduler appears to be stuck in a loop, this is without AMC itself being started, eventually the machine slows right down though not actually crashing. Is this normal or a bug ? (reminds me of the MPlayer/Pthread problem) here is a sample of the repetitive output via snoopy.
00001 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [170uS] 00002 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [51uS] 00003 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [156uS] 00004 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [49uS] 00005 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [157uS] 00006 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [51uS] 00007 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [164uS] 00008 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [51uS] 00009 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [169uS] 00010 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [51uS] 00011 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [177uS] 00012 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [51uS] 00013 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [167uS] 00014 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [79uS] 00015 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [172uS] 00016 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [52uS] 00017 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [166uS] 00018 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [50uS] 00019 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [164uS] 00020 : Scheduler : o.k. = ExamineObject(0x621CBAA8) [50uS] 00021 : Scheduler : o.k. = Lock("Jobs.adb",SHARED) [169uS]
The Scheduler shuts down from the shell ok and I have commented it out from the startup sequence. Looking forward to using it fully, Richard |

| @Draby Hi Draby, The scheduler is not stucked, it is simply checking if the jobs.adb file is changed. This file is where all scheduled recording are saved by AMC, but can be modified by anyone because is a plain text file.In the next release I'll ask the user before activate it by default, so if you don' t use planned web tv recording it' s fine to have commented out it in the startup-sequence _________________ ----- [Allanon] Fabio Falcucci AMC Website // Docs Site // Support Forum // => Patreon <=
