software Classic   software Classic : Mr Beanbag! AGA released.
   posted by Toaks on 29-Dec-2011 15:28:02 (11586 reads)
The AGA game MrBeanbag! is now finished and released.

MrBeanbag! is released as βeta since there is still bugs/issues,but most likely they won't be fixed.

MrBeanbag! is a really fast paced Platformer/Jump'n Run game ala Sonic The Hedgehog and was meant to be a fully commercial title a few years back, the development cycle stagnated and the developers put the project on hold as they needed a break,luckily they picked up development again and released this beta to the community.

MrBeanbag! has 17 levels,great graphics and sound and it does feel like a final commerical product.

@cammy

hmm, must have misunderstood her post on the website then :(
I liked mrbeanbag!, funny how you made that comment while i have been praising this game since 2005. (about it beeing better than most independant games).

as for the Amiga market and game dev and selling games,
i have been involved in many games the last 10-15 years and fantastic games and high profile (payback,BubbleHeroes,exodus The Last war,Tales of tamar, Simon The sorcerer 2,Land Of Genesis and more) ones with great marketing!, struggles to do any sales.
As to bundling games with UAE or whatever, well then its not exactly selling is it? as then its a bundle with something else and while that may boost sales, the developers still wouldnt get much (or any) money out of it.

by all means, i love games and i will buy any game that is released onto the Amiga Market and i will play them and enjoy them.
last time a game on Amiga sold 1000+ copies is many years ago sadly, over 10 years (unless sales was boosted the last few years).

WormsDC which was an really high profile game sold around 4000 copies and that was included with bundle sales, that was in 1996.

I really want to belive that we can resurrect the Amiga market and the day we do that, thats the day i will get the big guys over again.

PS: the last game i was involved in (support,testing and some tidbits) forums etc was glowing with interest and everyone said they would buy it etc, in the end not even half of them did, or even less :(, the game bombed and the developers moved to PC.

I think we can do better at publishing games now than anyone could back in the time you were involved in those games because these days digital distribution makes it far easier for people to impulse-buy games.

UAE is free, anyone can bundle it with their Amiga game for no extra cost.

I have plenty of ideas on how we can build up the Amiga userbase and community, but no one takes me seriously.

@cammy

yes. Just bundle it with UAE and AROS kickstart, and you have all you need to play it on any platform.

cammy: by all means i'll follow you and buy anything thats digitally or on disc ditrobuted.

and i do take you serious!, as for UAE beeing free, thats true but you can't bundle kickstarts with it and there are several other implications too.

contact me if you want help or whatever with projects, i'll help you!.

@Toads

Since the game runs fine with AROS M68K Kickstart, you don't need the original Amiga Kickstart anymore.
