@Moxee: isn't that covered by insurance? |
I wish it was, but the old system was 17 years old and the heating contractors tell me that they have a life span of approximately 15 years. Not that the complete system will go down in 15 years, but they start nickle and diming you about then. First the compressor goes out and that costs about $1,800 USD to replace. That is what happened to mine and then an inspection revealed all the other problems.
I could still be using the old electric booster furnace if my parents had installed it in the hallway closet like I did instead of in the crawl space where the previous one was. It was there lying on the Earth where some creepy crawler pushed Earth up around it. I saw that it was full of rust holes after they pulled it out. It had been sucking dirt into the blower housing and blowing it throughout the house.

| repeating myself:
Is it still the First Contact version? (is final end user version in the plans any more, at all?)
How much does it cost? (for example when ordered to finland with all taxes etc.)
(price is key factor, but I can not find the price) _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer?

| @KimmoK,
Go ahead and register your interest in the X1000 and AmigaKit will contact you later with all the details about the price, shipping and taxes to your location. They might have an opportunity to lower the price for this next production run and have not set the prices yet, which is why you can't find the price anywhere yet.
There is no harm in registering your interest now so AmigaKit will contact you when they are ready to start accepting deposits or purchases of the X1000 in the future.
Does it really matter to you if this next production run is still called the "First Contact" systems, or if they drop the "First Contact" designation and it is now called just the second production run of X1000's for public sale? You still get the same computer and peripherals and documentation with your X1000 as I did with mine.
Of course, if the onboard Sound driver, or onboard Ethernet port driver is completed before this next production run is ready to sell, then those next systems will no longer need to have those PCI boards included in the system specifications and will use the onboard components instead.
If you don't like the pricing of the X1000 when AmigaKit contacts you, or you don't have enough money saved up by the time they are ready to ship them, then just tell AmigaKit that you are no longer interested, or can't buy an X1000 at this time. Simple as that.
The First Contact systems required the buyers to pay a deposit first, then the balance of their payments later, but I don't know if AmigaKit will do this again, or not. As I have written earlier, it does not hurt or risk anything to send in your interest in the X1000 and then decide later if you are able to purchase one now, from this second production run.
Good luck to everyone that is considering purchasing the X1000. It is a great computer system for running OS4.x (the best computer for running OS4.x). _________________ Amiga! The computer that inspired so many, to accomplish so much, but has ended up in the hands of . . . . . . . . . .

Glad to see you don't have any prejudice against us Scandinavians :-p _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

If that is prejudice, then I'd call it prejudice of the good kind. Although I am mostly of Irish descent there is still some Scandinavian blood in my ancestry. I am very proud of that and all the history that goes along with it.
