@minator

They can, at their will, choose to pay VAT to Sweden, but they dont have to if their sales to Sweden is small (less than 35k IIRC). So it makes sense order Sam from Italy where VAT is lower than in Sweden.

VAT is charged at the rate of the source country. Not the destination one.

However, if you are VAT registered and you buy with no VAT, then you pay the VAT at your own country - i.e. the destination one. That's what the page refers to - the key word is taxable customer.

If it weren't like this it'd be crazy... in order to sell abroad you'd have to provide a table of VAT rates for each and every country in the E.U.. The whole point of the E.U. is to facilitate trade by making it easier, and that includes invisible inclusion of VAT on purchase - which would be impossible if every destination country used its own rate.

Job well done

It only took 22 comments to explain the VAT, and now everyone knows the price of the unit

on another subject, I know the sentiment is that the price is high, but I'm having trouble understanding that - it looks like a lowering of the price of entry to OS 4.1 goodness.

I mean, yes the CPU speed is slower, but it's still fast enough, and now the overall minimum outlay to join the OS 4 running crowd - is less than it was before.

I'm always tempted - although generally I don't succumb to the temptation and end up not purchasing, but - for me, years ago, when I was looking to buy an Amiga - I looked for 'available' no pre-order stuff, and somewhat reasonable price - not raspberry pi pricing, but not AmigaOne X1000 pricing either.

I don't know, I think they've done great. Easy for me to say, I'm not buying one, but back in the day, this would have rocked.
