Software News   Software News : AmigaOS4 Video of native P96 drivers
posted by MikeB on 9-Jul-2004 5:12:58 (8414 reads)
Within our forums Xeron pointed to a video made by an OS4 betatester demonstrating the native P96 graphics drivers:

"One of the OS4 betatesters put this video of native P96 on his homepage. This is not an official OS4 demonstration, just one users machine. The picture quality is low, but it gives an idea of the speed. Check it out:"

Crisot has posted a better quality version of the video, it's at http://uniweb.free.fr/os4/os4morequal.avi (24.7M). It's also got a couple seconds worth of Quake running in it, I must say I can't wait to get my hands on this stuff

Mike, I've never been employed by Genesi, and I'm certainly not today.
Actually, I've publicly warned people against letting themselves be
hired by Genesi unless they get payment in advance.

I'm sure if I gave a similar warning against being hired by AmigaInc
you'd call me a troll, right?

As for the compliment, it has to go to Crisot I'm afraid. As I wrote
in the thread on ann.lu, it was hard to tell much about the graphics
speed from that crappy video, but Crisot's user interaction speed was
very high.

From the other videos which are available, it's possible to see
however that OS4 gfx update speed is quite ok. I'm sure there will be
a lot of comparisons between MOS and OS4 over the coming years, but
what is important about OS4 here is surely that it is fast enough to
be usable in the "Amiga way".
