   posted by Rogue on 5-Mar-2005 14:20:09 (20472 reads)
Leuven, Belgium - 3. March, 2005

Hyperion Entertainment is pleased to announce the immediate availability of a new AmigaOne firmware update for registered customers of AmigaOS 4.0. New features in this release include

- Improvements in the x86 BIOS emulator
- Reworked IDE/ATA-Code with better support of multiple IDE controllers
- Preliminary support for the Catweasel Mark IV controller by Individual Computers
- Ability to choose graphics card for booting
- Multiple bugs fixed, including a wrong IRQ assignment for AGP graphics cards (Vertical Blanking interrupts should now function correctly)

The update can be downloaded from the file area on Hyperion Entertainment's website.

@anarchic_teapot

I got a fright with this. I update the SLB and UBoot, then found my A1-XE wouldn't boot.

After the initial panic I checked the UBoot settings and it had set to boot from internal VIA by default. I changed that to SII parallel and all was well

Try adding a '1' then to diskboot

diskboot 500000 a:b 1

am i correct that the "keyboard-mouse-usb-combos" are not yet supported with this update? at least here my hardware is not identified/used.

Mice are unsupported in U-Boot. A combo should be recognized, though, at least my Microsoft wireless combo is correctly identified.

Quote:
also the "auto-usb-keyboard" usage has not made it into this update?

No. Not enough time I'm afraid.

@ Rose.

If your customer has no devices attached to the internal via ide, then that can be disabled in intergrated peripherals.
Then in amiga multiboot options change boot device 1 to SII Parallel Disk

I thought there was preliminary support for the Catweasel Mark IV. How come it's still telling me 'No Catweasel detected'? And the instructions for the booting the update CD-ROM didn't work for me ('diskboot 500000 0:0 0'). I had to leave off the final zero before it would boot.

Stupid question, but do you actually have one? If yes, what does the "PCI" command show?

The instructions say that if your current U-Boot is from before February 2005, you have to leave the zero off. Only from this update on will you need to add the zero.

Thanks

Not a stupid question as it appears I only implied I had a Catweasel Mark IV, but explicitly yes I do have a Catweasel IV. And, sorry, but "PCI" command? I can't find any "PCI" command. But here are the results from the PCIScan utility:

OK, sorry, I did mis-read the instructions.

In U-Boot, not OS4.

@Rogue
Update works nicely here, keep up the good work.

@all

Thank you Hyperion! Everything worked well! Flashed without a problem!
This time I didn't had to use my MAC to burn the ISO CD!
Everything was done with my A1:
image download (IBrowse)
ISO imae bruning (MakeCD)
flashed (A1 )
Reboot

Even all the settings remained! in the ROM!

Great work!

Now get this AOS4 update 3 ready for downloading!

Installed and had to look a bit the preferences because of my SIL card.
Works now. But the new SLB offers quite a long countdown for choosing OS4- normal
and OS4-debug. Is the SLB's countdown time adjustable?

@blmara

There's a boot delay option in UBoot for that.

@mtreasure

I mean the countdown of SLB (at least I get 20 sec delay unless I press Enter). It's after the
UBoot phase.
