| I am going to ask a question that may sound a bit silly, but dose anyone know if it is possible to use Papyrus without TurboPrint if you don’t have a printer and have no interest in printing.
All I want to do is edit word documents and spell check my web posts like I do with Word on my PC, so I don’t like the idea of having to pay for TurboPrint just to be run Papyrus. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar

| I took the plunge and pre-ordered !
I hope I wont regret this, if I do, it will be the last thing EVER I pre-order !
Anyway I will be getting the 68K version aswel, so that can't be a (very)bad deal I should be better then FW97 and Turbocalc, I think...
Now the wait begins.
Cheers,

atm Turboprint is requiered but i guess that final OS4 Version will not need TP anymore.

Does make the cost for AmigaOS4.0 look extremely cheap though! I mean AmigaOS4.0 is the result of years of hard work done by dozens of developers and beta-testers. OS4 Papyrus will be a port of an existing application to a (not too) different platform (OS3, MorphOS port already exists...). |
You forgot several points here: 1. Papyrus wasn´t developed "overnight" its in development since 1992 you can image how much work was put into it. 2. there are several licences which needs to be paid too e.g. Spellchecker, Dictionaries 3. Papyrus has the same price on all 3 platforms PC, Mac and Amiga just Euro129.- (normal price). 4. Papyrus gives nearly the same features like Mircosoft Office which is for Euro449.- 5. compared to PC and Mac the Amigamarket is like a drop in a bucket but the salesprice is the same. 6. customers support takes time, effort and money too. .............

Also will the orders from the kind people who already bought Papyrus with usage of AmigaOS4 in mind (listed as a supported platform) be added to the amount of required pre-orders? |
The support of OS4 68k Emu. was added after 2 customers reported that it works on their system not before. Overall we have had 6 Os4 customers before this preorder started. These customers will also get the OS4 native version for free download.
@kvinkunx for East-European xustomers we have special prices just take a look at "price-section" on Papyrus Amigasite.
@billit you havn´t read our terms correctly. |

All points listed except for point 3 and 5 can be applied to AmigaOS4 as well. I just wanted to point out that AmigaOS4 isn't as expensive as some claim it to be.
Anyhow I plan to pre-order during the next few days. Make us proud! Last edited by MikeB on 20-Jun-2005 at 12:30 PM.

> We need MS Word compatibility
The cheap way is already there:
Antiword (free) can convert word files to pdf, including images and formatting
Pagestream pro can import pdf for further editing. Most of us have pagestream and upgrading to the pro version is not so expensive.
Nevertheless I preordered papyrus. But I'm afraid, they will not get the developper systems... (Mr "Pagestream", Deron, got it)
