posted by tomazkid on 18-Jul-2005 15:33:04 (10116 reads)
The long awaited IBrowse 2.4 is to be demonstrated at Amiga-shows on the 20th anniversary of the Amiga-computer!

Quote:
On 23rd July 2005, IBrowse 2.4 will be making its public debut at three shows around the globe. The demo will consist of:

* current IBrowse 2.4 beta, 68k build
* current JavaScript library beta, PPC OS4 build
* current Flash plugin beta, 68k build

and will show the new features that will be available in IBrowse 2.4. The shows that will be demo'ing are:

AmiGBG in Sweden, by Andreas Loong
AmiWest in USA, by Richard Drummond
Fyanica in Hungary, by Stephen Fellner

Please note this is NOT the launch of IBrowse 2.4, which will hopefully be later this year

You can still be a realist without shooting people down, or their efforts.

Yes, I want a browser as 'complete' as FireFox, and I want it NOW!

Having said that, I appreciate the fact that IBrowse development is still going, and will improve. I showed that appreciation by buying it, and it is nearly 'good enough' for most tasks. That may not sound like a glowing review, but it lets me do most things I need to, and some things I want to. IMO, it was $ well spent, as at least currently, for me, it remains much more usable than AWeb or uhh, the 'never to be released on OS4' Voyager.

Bear in mind, without IBrowse, or AWeb, and their development, we would be in a much worse position than now.

wegster:

the thing is, when IB3.0 comes and if its Upto date vs current (at that time) browsers then IB will roll over firefox like hell, as long as its the same features and ib keeps its gui...then bye bye FX!...

imo anyway

Not if it takes another 2 years, even 6 months is a stretch.

as long as they provide it in a diskette

I hope you mean CD, not floppy disk, as nobody with any sense provides software on floppy disk these days! Even Amigas have been able to use CDs for so long that I find it unimaginable to install software any other way. I mean, you can't even hold 1MB (uncompressed) on a normal Amiga floppy, and these days 1MB is tiny...

Ibrowse 2.4 will be free to registered users.

Despite being registered, I would quite happily pay for 2.4, just as a "thank you" to Stefan/etc for their hard work - and as incentive for them to keep working on 3.0 .
