New hardware is great but IMHO price is still too high. This is supposed to be the "budget system" if/when x-mobo comes out, but to be totally 100% rude in this situation where everyone is jumping with joy 600 euro is a sh*tload of money.

Still the best hardware for OS4 is the Peg2 IMHO, I got mine last year for 180 euro, and for 420 euros, I could ditch guarantee and live on the wild side ,remember "no risc no fun"

it's truely good to see PCIe slots on the SAM.
hope we soon see a SAM 460 flex with a faster CPU gig G4 any1?

hopefully with cards like the HD4850 the sam can accelerate many fun things :)

edit there is no way known that they are not working with hyperion long before they
release the finished product!

@ALL

Well Done ACube, Partners & Supporters & the Amiga Crew...

Looks like were are really on track, progress has been almost fool proof, each quarter, brings us, a newer and more exciting chapter.

I STRONGLY urge all Amiga' people to join the MiniMig, NatAmi, and SamPPC user base. Please do not wait for some some super duper model if you can avoid it, and also please do not listen to any NAY SAYERs, theire predictions are based on failure and our moto is success.

When Pegasos2 was still produced, it cost around 400 euros.

@Spectre660

Indeed i hate optical drives especially in mini computers and laptop, it would be a dream come true being able to buy OS4.1 direclty on SD

SD considering the future plans is better than any optical drive, even Blueray. No mechanical, so little space on case/motherboard. Read write support, new SD XC are already quite fast and will reach 100MB/s and maximum capacity of 2TB. Ineed Apple is probably planning to remove CD/DVD/Blueray in its products and equipping all of them with a SD, laptop will be more robust, lighter, smaller.

Nice Hardware, when the price is good, and OS4 runs on it I think I could need it. Course on the old SAM the 64mb GFX is not enough, now on this Board when you can use PCI-E for GFX and PCI for Soundcard, it would fit my needs perfect. 1GHZ is enough ;)

@DAX

My statement about gfx card and sata was about a case problem...
I like to get a new card smaller and nicer with a nice case but...
If I've to change/add gfx board and/or sata controller the nice case was gone... :(
Only that...

I'm in doubt on that not in the cheaper way of adding that devices...

@ Templario

I agree with you...
The price wa at least 30% high unfortunately...
I think it must have the same sma440 price at its launch imho...
As every hw around when pass from a version to another...

Tux, its not so simple to add a mega video card into a small mobo into a small case.. all world wide small pc has lways a not so powerful video card. If you want a more powerful one just buy a PCI-E card and fit into a SAM..

@AfxGroup

you are right...
I only hoped for a 128 mb card not an high-end card...like a Radeon9250 on board(or something similar).
And my doubt was about the impossibility to use a "nice little" case if I've to buy a sata and gfx card...noting more.

I had an ASUS Ieee with a SD drive. It was so slow I got rid of it. However there would be less disk access on an Amiga. Windows is constantly running the drive for some reason.

Maybe the SAM 460 is a good upgrade path from a micro instead of X1000. It isn't a lot faster, but it can use other video cards. Maybe there isn't that much difference. It looks like if you want a PCI-e video card you'd also have to buy a SATA card. That would inflate the price by $100(?).

@thinkchip

It depends on SD drive and SD memory. SD XC reach 16MB/s pretty good imho and in future SD memory should reach 100MB/s. Macs has only these drives now, i think also the same one will have this new standard. naturally if you plug a old SD memory it will run at its max speed, 1,2,4 MB/s.

You can find more info. about the SM502 at the EyeMotion product page. Also note the screen shot of AmigaOS 4.1 running on the SM502 at the bottom.
