@thread

i've been noticing some performance differences between update 2 and update 3 on my SAM, and, wow! anything using the cairo port seems to scroll much faster, including OWB and netsurf. and anything which uses miniGL seems much faster as well. in quake2 the difference is 4 fps, in cube it's 5.1 fps (average), hexenGL is actually playable now, i mean, fantastic work, hyperion!

anyone else seeing noticeably improved 2D and 3D graphics performance on SAM440 systems?

Just want to mention that there was a problem under u3 with mounting Amiga floppies via a Catweasel when mounting the device on startup. Hence anyone using my drivers can they use the latest version please? It's in the usual place, http://www.retroreview.com/iang/Catweasel/ !

@eliyahu

I have an A1-XE and I also noticed a definate increase in speed, especially in OWB scrolling "Unfortunately" we are all now using MUI-OWB with has its own cairo port and doesn't benefit from this it seems...

@Deniil

I recheck update3 files now (just browse inside of archive), and i didn't find anything related to cairo changes which will point us on changes in cairo itself.

All of this make me think, that all that gfx speed increase come from:

1. "just me" effect
2. for sam users its DMA usage in rtg.library (on what Maxx works lately, and as i understand its only for Sams).
3/ Maybe some changes in the ATIRadeon.chip, which related to all platforms.

Sadly i don't have update2 installed for now and can't compare, but will be interesting to do some tests..

I had a missing libz.so.1 so I started over with a new partition and installed OS4.1 Update 1, boot, Update 2, boot, and then Update 3.

Now when booting up I get a DOS screen with one line which says:
Error: USB Ctrl only works with USB stack 53.11

After about 20 seconds or so it goes away and the boot finishes.

I haven't tried any USB devices yet to see if there is a problem.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Since I will soon have a working A1 again, I would like to know a little more about the sequence of reinstalling the system for a working 4.1 update 3.

I know I need to instal 4.1, 4.1.1, 4.1.2, and 4.1.3. However, do I need to instal the quick fixes? If so, at what stage of the installation process do I need to instal them?

Thanks,
