posted by SvenHarvey on 30-Oct-2004 8:09:57 (15794 reads)
The Micro-A1-C is now in stock and ready to go at Stellar Dreams, thanks to a special arrangement with Hyperion Entertainment.

You can visit the product page for the first mini-ITX A1 for UK Amigans at Stellar Dreams - Micro-1-C

Also in stock: Image FX 4.5 Studio, Amiga Forever 6 - a small number of "new" A1200HD Amiga Magic packs (AT machines) are being prepped and will be available to order soon alongside some "new" CD32s. Keep checking back for more information!

The Amiga frontpage at Stellar Dreams can be found at www.amiga-centre.co.uk

Please note that Stellar Dreams only ships to mainland UK at this time, and the all product frontpage is at www.stellardreams.co.uk

@all
After reading this thread I'm confused.
So what CPU do the microA1 (C and I version) have now: 750FX or 750GX?
Which one is the better choice and why?

The C version is meant to ship with the FX G3, the I with the GX..

However at the time of the last C run FX's were hard to get so an order of GX's came in and were used... Doesnt mean future batches will come with a GX, more likely they will have FX's assuming they are readily available...

As for those that get a C with a GX, assume that IF anything goes wrong it will be replaced with an FX, as that is the listed specification of the µA1-C.

Hope that makes sense

It?s a matter of economics i.e. the finance to do R&D.

And this prove what I said...

The dev time and time-to-market time in the amiga world is always super magnified (yesterday from the deficiency of amiga/commodore bosses and today by the difficult economical situation...).

Motorola was a factor in the demise of 68K based PC/Workstation vendors i.e. just look at the survivors and who dumped Motorola as their CPU partner.

A rough list
1. Sharp (Japan) X68000 PC,
2. Atari (US), various 68KPCs
3. DEC (US) (now HP/Intel), mainly workstations,
4. HP (US), mainly workstations,
5. CBM (US), various 68K PCs,
6. Sinclair (UK), cheap home PC (Spectrum QL)
7. Capcom Systems(?), Arcade machines
8. SEGA (Japan), Game consoles
9. Apple (US), various 68K PCs
10. Philips (Netherlands), CD media players (68070)
11. SUN Microsystems (US), mainly workstations (some are relabelled Amiga 3000 system),
12. ?etc?.

Well the real beauty of the A1 cpu card is that you can use pc standard "Vga Cooler" fans (like overclockers use) I've seen some nice A1 rigs with custom fans like Vantech, Coolermaster, and othes, some even with blue leds.

Has anybody tried slowing the fan speed down with a speed controller? Or does the A1-C need the fan to run at full speed? Slowing the fan by a tiny amount can make a big difference to the amount of noise it produces.
