hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : DiscreetFX submits proposal to acquire Amiga Inc. in the next 12 months
   posted by DiscreetFX on 22-Oct-2006 5:26:59 (18539 reads)
Members of DiscreetFX sent a formel proposal to Amiga Inc. requesting formal validation of the companies value. We are hard at work finishing up our Super Size Me like movie about Trans Fat but the plan is to secure funding to purchase Amiga Inc. and all of it’s IP in the next year. That is our next project after completing the film. It has been on the To-Do list for some time.

This of course depends on if Amiga Inc. wants to sell themselves in the next year and if an agreed upon price can be negotiated. DiscreetFX believes there is tremendous value in the Amiga brand and Amiga OS 4.0. The CEO of DiscreetFX stated “Even though we primarly develop our visual effects software on NewTek video editing solutions for Windows and solutions on Mac OS X the Amiga has always held a special place in my heart since I developed my first product on it. I want to help bring the Amiga back to it’s former glory in new IT markets”. If an agreement can be reached between Amiga Inc. and DiscreetFX the return of Amiga will be amazing.

Best regards

DiscreetFX Team

Nope, in fact one of the investors is a famous Chicago Celebrity that we met during filming of our Super Size Me like movie about Trans Fat called Oil Change. The celebrity is an old time Amiga Video Toaster Flyer user and loves the platform even though they have not used it in years. It was their idea to announce this to the Amiga community. The plan is to buy Amiga after the film is completed and available. Oil Change is our focus for the next 4-8 months.

Do I smell a design contest coming?

Guys, I almost can't believe it... it's just so funny!

Whats the point in this announcement if buying Amiga Inc isnt your primary goal for the next 4+ months?

Is it just to see the reaction from the Amiga users?

Do you believe you have the financial backing to actually take over all of Amiga Inc or are you just interested in using the name and some of the technologies?

If you succeed to buy ALL of Amiga, what would you do with it? Is AA/DE of interest to you or will OS4 be the primary target?

Will you consider to get Amiga publically traded like Commodore was, so us ordinary Amigans could also be part of the company?

(I have plenty of questions

@ hatschi

I never liked the current logo, so that sounds like a great idea..

Whether its priority #1 is another story though

I'm pretty sure there would be rules involved when one company formally acknowledges to another that they wish to take it over. I'm sure a third party financial audit would have to be done, and as part of that, some sort of assessment will be undertaken so as to determine the worth of the entity, Amiga Inc.

@Troels

We bought the Amiga DE SDK a long time ago but never got into it. We are interested in Amiga OS 4.0 & the Amiga community.

@DiscreetFX

If you don't make a deal with Amiga Inc you can always invest on AROS (giving it compatibility with 68k/MOS in the big endian versions and improving the capabilities of Zune, adding Overlay to the gfx drivers, improving Wanderer or porting Ambient...).

@Crumb

I'll let the investors know that and bring them up to speed on AROS.

I'd rather have something better than OS4, thank you.

Anyway, something must change drastically, or I' ll be able to buy Amiga in a few years without any venture capital funding (selling my laptop should do it)
