Also which is the best file system to use? |
SFS0 for the boot partition.
SFS0 or SFS2 or JXFS for the other partitions. (SFS0 if you want best chance of recovering/repairing it, SFS2 if you want support for 64-bit files, and JXFS if you want to use something more modern than SFS2.) _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. | Can Hyperion or someone PLEASE make Update 1 available via a Torrent? It was *designed* for this kind of situation, allowing large downloads by large numbers of people. Then you don't need massive bandwidth for your web site. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

| If they do release the ISO via torrent, they would have to do so over a private tracker, but basically it is a good idea. _________________ www.amiga4ever.de

So what are you using? If I have got this right, SFS0 for Boot Partition (Workbench, System or whatever it's called).
What has everyone got on the other (non-Workbench) partitions? Do I want 64bit files support? SFS2 is more modern than SFS0, in what exactly, what are the advantages? _________________ www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

SFS2 for OS4 partition and the rest JXF4 |
I thought only FFS and SFS0 partitions could be used to boot from ?
Is SFS2 now supported for booting ? |

SFS0 for everything except my Data partition (which uses SFS2 to allow a super large partition, and potentially files over 2GB size).

Yes.

3rd-party programs on my Programs partition. Games on my Games partition (although it would just as sensibly be a folder on my Programs partition). Data files on my Data partition, which is synced to my Windows PC's Data partition via FolderSync2.
I don't install anything on my Workbench/Boot partition, unless it's required.

SFS2 is basically identicaly to SFS0, except that it supports larger partitions & files. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

The Kickstart files cannot be loaded off SFS2 by UBoot firmware, as far as I know. Maybe it is different for the Peg2 OpenFirmware thing?Last edited by ChrisH on 14-Jan-2010 at 08:06 PM.

Nonsense. Of course this works. Just make sure you install the SLB_v2 from the ISO to your harddrive and there you go _________________ Regards, Cyborg. AmigaOS4 development team member

| @Cyborg Someone also reported that OS4.1 Update 1 won't allow itself to be installed to SFS2. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

It's not UBoot but SLB_v2 which loads the Kickstart.. like I said in my former comment: Install the SLB from the Update 1 ISO to your harddrive and you can use SFS/2 for your boot partition.
(I admit I'm not sure if this SLB also contains JXFS support... someone brave might try :) ) _________________ Regards, Cyborg. AmigaOS4 development team member

I don't know what this guy did, but I installed it without problems on an SFS/2 partition of my A1. _________________ Regards, Cyborg. AmigaOS4 development team member
