software OS4   software OS4 : Enhancer Software Released On AMIStore (OS4)
posted by amigakit on 1-May-2016 20:50:09 (30221 reads)
Enhancer Software Released On AMIStore
Cardiff, May 1st 2016

A-EON Technology Ltd is pleased to announce that the new Enhancer Software has been released on AMIStore App Store for OS 4. The Enhancer Software is a collection of utilities, commodities, classes, datatypes and libraries with the aim of enhancing the AmigaOS experience. It is the result of about nine months worth of hard work by the AmigaDeveloper.com Team.

The Enhancer Software contains the debut pre-release version of Warp3D Nova and there will be free updates for Enhancer Software users as Nova gets updated over the coming months.

X-Dock is a new feature rich docking system. It makes it's public debut on the Enhancer Software.

MultiEdit is a new tabbed text editor included in the package with many other features.

Multiviewer, the datatype viewer gets an upgrade to version 2.2, adding new features such as image thumbnails and much more. It now uses the new Shared Image Class and InfoWindow Class.

Ringhio Notifications has had many internal updates over the last few months to bring it to version 53.53. It now features notification sound, colourwheel support, individual app configuration plus lots of bug fixes over the old version bundled in OS4.

TuneNet has been updated as a result of user feedback and requests. The User Interface now supports 4.1 FE features and our new classes such as InfoWindow Class and ProgressBar Gadget Class. The new version is exclusively included.

ClipViewer also makes it's debut. This is a new Clipboard manager which has integration with other applications in the Enhancer Software.

Exchanger is a new commodity and application manager which gives external control of running applications and commodities, including: showing or hiding the program GUI, shutting the program down, displaying the Workbench information requester for the particular program, enabling and disabling commodities.

The Enhancer Software package is available to purchase as two versions. A Standard edition containing the RadeonHD v1 driver and the CANDI Special Edition with four animated Workbench backgrounds, and a Plus Edition which includes the RadeonHD v2 driver with composite video support together with the full CANDI package.

Many of the applications on the Enhancer Software use the new gadgets and classes that have been written from the ground up to give extra functionality to the apps they serve. InfoWindow Class provides a better way of displaying Information and About windows and is utilised with most applications in the Enhancer Software. Similarly, the new Shared Image Class is used by MultiViewer and ClipViewer.

We are also pleased to have licenced Joerg Strohmayer's Amiga software for the Enhancer Software including new versions of SmartFileSystem, AmiDVD, PartitionWizard and DiskCache Library.

What is in the Enhancer Software distribution?

MultiViewer, for example.

I've no idea about the details of Matthews discount for upgrade policy, but it's worth noting that MultiViewer has been significantly upgraded.

Thumbnail generation for Images / Text based files
Support for ClipViewer
and most importantly from my point of view, the CompositeTags based zoom / rotate code for the image viewing has been rewritten to use a cache of bitmap tiles rather than whole images, and so can deal with as many tabs with as big an image as you like in each without running out of video memory, even on a Sam 440.

I feel a bit of frustrated. I have Sam 440ep Flex and I'm supposed to pay Warp3D nova driver. That is OK, if there is a working 3D driver for my Sam one day. Could someone tell :

You said you had no problem upgrading to other hardware once it's available so the new drivers would be useful when that happens.

Quote:
Are there going to be Warp3D driver for Radeon HD5XXX wich is best working Radeon HD card for Sam 440ep Flex?

It would be nice to know if they are still pursuing the 5000/6000 series Warp3D driver that was announced years ago.

They have said they are not going to develop Warp3D Nova drivers for the older cards like the 5000 series but will provide the DDK and other support to anyone wishing to do so.

Will there be a uboot update for Sam440ep Flex wich would make possible to use Radeon HD7XXX card with my Sam Flex?

A question for Acube Systems. I guess if more people mail them asking the same thing they might do something about it.

true -- and i certainly hope the upgraded multiviewer will be given to existing multiviewer owners without additional cost.

Nice.

Did you also change those hard to reach menu shortcut keys, BTW?

Best regards,

@eliyahu

I would love to give everything away for free, but developers need payment of course and we need to invest money into updates for the Enhancer Software.

@ Andy : for people that bought stand alone Multiviewer, are we also entiteled to the version 2.2 ?

Overall the package looks interesting for people having the right config and less to early bird AmigaOnes owners. I already bought Multiviewer and looking forward to multiedit.

BTW is Multiedit keeping a list of recently opened files so that you dont have to go through the whole HD when you forgot to do something on the file you just closed ?

@amigakit
It would be nice if AMIStore, or perhaps every product on it, had a clear upgrade policy, so that the buyer knows in advance if they will receive future updates (bug fixes and/or new features). That way they won't feel cheated later, due to wrongly expecting updates for free.

For example: Maybe all AMIStore products should include any future fixes for major bugs, but maybe only certain products would include any additional features & improvements added in the future.

No, they don't. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Andy getting payment - good guy, good results - but he doesn't need payment - since for him, it's just a hobby. The party that needs payment is you.

Not that I have a problem with that, I just appreciate precision.

That said, your current strategy seems shortsighted to me. Amiga users are willing to spend quite a bit of cash, as long as it's for a good cause ("developers need payment") - but even their patience must have limits, especially given the bleak situation. Charging customers who bought the last release of Multiviewer again, after less than a year - that's stretching it.

I think it's pretty certain that major software, like the RadeonHD Warp3D drivers, would not get updated without further payments. For smaller less complex software (like MultiViewer), it's probably a less clear-cut issue, but it still seems disingenious to say that X definitely did not NEED paying to do Y. For all we know, X wouldn't have been sufficiently interested in doing Y (rather than something else), without being paid... In which case it would be accurate to say that "X certainly did NEED paying to do Y".

That's not my decision, so please refer that question to Matthew.

But I would say it a sufficient update to justify a new purchase, espaially as part of a larger package.

Both MultiEdit and MultiViewer keep a record of recently saved files in the recent files list, this can be configured to be separate or shared between them.

I beg to differ, I need payment because I need to pay rent buy food etc, and the work I've done on this far exceeds any time I could justify as a hobby, much as I work on the occasional website to supplement my primary income from music, coding MVer and MEdit et al have been useful srcs of extra income.

It might only be 10% of my income but having just done my accounts, I know earnt about 105% (very rule of thumb) of what I need to live and reinvest in my music last year, take 10% off that I have a problem.

You misunderstood. I'm not saying Andy should have done X without payment - I'm saying if he hadn't been payed to do X, he might have done something else instead - after all, coding is his hobby. He wrote Organiser and ported Blender without getting paid for either project, for example. Multiviewer might be a nice project, but I doubt the OS4 world would have ended hadn't it showed up last year.

I was only answering to the "need payment" claim. That's just marketing speak.

Thanks, cutgutjahr. Your odd logic has convinced me in reverse -- Andy gotta get paid. I will buy this bundle as soon as I get home to my Amigas.

Can you get me a serial log for that MultiEdit lockup? Needless to say it doesn't happen for me.

A serial log is a bit to difficult right now...

Would be useful to know versions of clicktab.gadget and texteditor.gadget you have installed.

clicktab.gadget 53.44
texteditor.gadget 53.21

I now tried opening a New Tab with the Project pull down menu. That works.
I also tried Amiga+T and that also works.

It's when right-clicking the MultiEdit window itself, and choosing Project | New Tab "it freezes"...

@ cjutjahr

obviously you're joking about 'part time' developers not 'needing' to get paid ? Perhaps you're so well off that money is not important for you but for the majority of us ANY extra money we get is more than appreciated

I suggest you send Andy a donation right now for Blender and his other works for AmigaOS in case you haven't already done so to make up for that comment

As a programmer, are we allowed to distribute the new classes with our program? If not, then whats the point of buying? If so, good, but just another thing to be installed that should be part of the OS.

I have no problem buying it, but I would like to see a no-drivers version for us WinUAE and non-Radeon users.

I tought that Candi was something that i would never buy/run but now i have bought it and is using it and i actually like it :O That came as a suprise...

My highest hopes is with Warp3dNova so lets hope we see something using it soon.
I was already using multiviewer so i know that i will like that and multiedit will probably serve me well too.. All in all it's a good package for me for a relatively small sum of money so thanks to everyone involved. I hope to see lots of more stuff from where it came from :)

(My) problem with bundles is that distributors don't have enough feedback to decide what software in the bundle is popular and used everyday and what is just death weight...

That's curious, the pop-menu is still just an intuition menu, I'm not using any popup class or menu.class in popup mode, so the code path is identical to the pul-dwon menu.

What are your menu settings? Blocking, non blocking?

Amother possibilty to try and capture serial if you lack a connection is to redirect the output of Sashimi to a file

eg

SDK:Tools/Sashimi/Sashimi > work:temp/sashout

(only dod this if work is not FFS2 other wise you will likely invalidate the partition.)

After a reboot you may have crashlog or you may not depends how gard the crash was.

I'm interested to know which component crashed and the stack trace.
