Super! Looking much nicer for having their own palettes. Another thing checked off the OS4 to-do list

I did that because there where so many icons to show, and because someone once mumbled that "OS 4 can only show 800x600".

As you see, it can go higher

Clean, crisp, and very much recognizeable as AmigaOS. Great stuff!

Not long until I get my hands on it now...

@ Rogue

Seems like the Payback CD was in the CDROM when the screenshot was taken. Does this mean that Payback works on OS4? Both in software and 3d mode?

I've always had a contrast problem with the icon font in workbench, and this screenshot shows no exception. It's small and doesn't stand out well from the background. I haven't yet figured out why this is the case, but the icon text on a windows desktop always stands out proud and visible, no matter what wallpaper you have selected. Maybe it automatically chooses the best outline for the font, or maybe it's the font itself... anyway, I just hope I don't have this problem when I get hold of OS4 (which by looking at how the price of the AmigaONE seems to be increasing rather than declining, may be a very long time).

It works under certain circumstances. There is a slight bug in the FPU code that comes through with Payback, we're working on it to fix it. If I disable the ATTNFlag in ExecBase that shows the presence of a 68881, it works.

Didn't try Warp3D mode yet because the current OS 4 port doesn't have a legacy jumptable yet, I need to generate one but never got around doing it.

Pics are better than words:

Note: I know that AOS4 can't handle anti-alias (but I'll be glad to be proven wrong ), but this quick'n'dirt re-touching is just to illustate the basic concept, which, unfortunately, is totally missing: contrast.
I'd have lotsa more things to say (f.ex. font style), but, hey, I'd better shut up.

Thanks anyway to Mason and everybody who's working at bringing back the king of OSes!

saimo

Hi!
My first post contains some questions

1) Why is there AsyncWB again? Workbench4 is not asyncronous? And when I'll read a directory with many many files what will happen?

2) Why have you eliminated the "question point icon" type for each prefs configuration tool?? It was very original

3) What are "DephToFront", "PowerMenus" and "AmiAlbedo" tools??

Bye Bye and 10x for replies

Ooops!
You have anticipated me with this while I was fiddling with Personal Paint... anyway, the point is that we agree.

Regards,

Personally, I don't think I like that particular Icon set. Some of the icons are done really well, others I don't like at all. In contrast to the excellent "Glow Icons Revolution" set by Lorraine Designs (which uses HighColour PNG format) they look rather sub-standard. I think it's fair to say the're an improvement over the standard Glow-Icon set though, in most areas.

I suppose it's a personal preference issue. Icons are easily changed to suit your preference so no biggie.
