Announcement   Announcement : Hyperion Entertainment - AmigaOS4 News
   posted by Mikey_C on 13-May-2004 21:01:00 (13213 reads)
Leuven, Belgium - May 13 2004.

After consultation with our German CD production partner, House of Audio, Hyperion Entertainment is pleased to announce that the Developer Pre-Release of AmigaOS 4.0 is now tentatively scheduled for May 21th, 2004.

The AmigaOS 4.0 CD will be distributed through your AmigaOne dealer.

(Edited for clarity)
From Rogue:
We are expecting to get the CD's on monday or tuesday (note: expecting. It depends on things like the german postal services to work as expected, the CD's actually shipping to us etc).

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Ehm, that was a bit silly, maybe.

It's not like it's really a life-altering event.

But in case no one heard me the first time, here's a repeat performance:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's a good day to be a Blind AmigaOS Follower, methinks.

With some luck, maybe, maybe before next weekend, then, I'll rearrange my default boot-priority...bye bye, hda autoboot!

Oh, and, by the way, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This is me:
This is me figuring out Linux:
This is me 'fixing' a Windows install:
This will be me running OS4:
(Yes, I had to use the banana somehow! )

It is the name of a very good company specializing in CD-production. I guess usually most of their customers are interested in Audio CD production... but they also
do - like in the case of the OS 4 prerelease - production of Data-CDs.

Uhm... I can't really get anything sensible out of this...
What exactly does it mean? Hyperion have tallked to the duplicators, and the
CD's are finally ready by the 21st? The pressing will start on the 21st?
The dealers will have them by the 21st? The users will have the by the 21st?

I really hope it's the last option, but it can't be, as the post can be of varying
speed in different countries... someone clarify this!

EDITED;

hmm... just read a clarifying comment that i had missed... so.. ignore this!

@Argo

I noticed this hasn't made it to the news section on Aorg yet. I applaud that decision. The only thing it would produce is a 150 count thread of vitriolic comments, as I'm sure you know.

You *almost* restored my faith in Aorg!

BTW, what happened to Kees? Haven't seen him around for a long time....

150! I'd expect more from AO members. This is kinda small news. It was needed though. I was starting to see the "where is the OS 4.0 Beta CD" forum topics. People really needed a "it's getting there" announcement. Either as news or forum post by someone at Hyperion.

Who cares if the discs get sent out to distributors on the 21st or start production on the 21st? I know the people with ants in there pants to run OS 4.0 on their AmigaOnes. Really, we're probably talking about a week more if that's the production start date.

When users start getting the discs, that will be big news.

Well, actually I didn't submit the news to any site; I was in a hurry yesterday.
