Software News   Software News : Tales of Tamar New Amiga Version V0.52 R1
posted by PressTamar on 27-Jun-2004 12:49:11 (1929 reads)
Hello dear players,

finally, a new Amiga version can be released. Due to the current tester situation, it took a little longer.

Important!
Always make a backup of all data. If you don't make a backup, it's your own fault if you lose data. We ave, as always, tried to find all problems, but you can ever be sure.

New features & bugfixes:
------------------
- yet to be translated

Tearing down buildings
------------------

Probably the most important new function. Please note that due to an earlier problem, two buildings in you capital may be lost. Those are the town hall and the tavern. Both buildings must be rebuilt by you, in case they disappear.

Since most old players are bigger by now, this shouldn't be too big of a problem.

Giving an receiving land
-----------------------------

Using a scout, you can now give land and towns to other players. Your scout has to be on the hex in question and get the order "offer". The scout of the receiving player has to be at the same spot and get the order "accept".

If both player get these order in the same turn, the land in question will change owner.

If a third scout is present and also receives the order to "accept", not transfer will take place, that way you can block a transfer.

The peaceful transfer does NOT modify confidence.

Trade offices
--------

In every town, you can now have up to 20 trade offices. The extend the granary capacity and will serve a storage room for goods in the future. At the beginning, each realm can store up to 50.000 units of goods. Each trade office extends the capacity by 100.000 units.

The storage limit is not active yet.

any hope for an OS4 version? An OS4-compatible 68k version would suffice

Has anyone tried this game under OS4 yet, btw?

Whats the current development status for TOT? I remember the programming team behind it said they were looking into building a 3D game engine for it. The couple of screenshots on their site looked very promising - any news on it?

This is the latest picture I could find of the mentioned 3D Engine:

I'm sure you'll agree this is pretty impressive - a native OS4 version would definately appeal to a few people! Add that to the fact that (I believe) it is cross platform compatable then it should appeal :)

This version (0.52r1) actually works on OS4 & AmigaOne.

Yes ToT supports OS4 since this version. And yes, we are currently building up a 3d map for ToT. Out target is to implement it until the end of the year.

As a ToT-player who got addicted ~20 months ago, I can only say that GFX aren't really anything to bother .... if that 3D-map gets released I will most likely have a short look and than return to the normal 2D-map (sorry Wolfen ) since I can't imagine that the 3D will be as easy to use and I'm sure it will be harder to keep track of everything once you got a bigger map (when you have units/lands scattered over a dozen of islands for example).

The game itself is still relativly simple, the more important task is to keep track of what others are doing, which is mostly done by listening to gossip (in the IRC-tavern) or by exchanging emails).

So if you ever wanted to kick your favourite blue-troll's a##, here is your chance

Lord <not telling>
