Announcement   Announcement : AmigaOne Productions Videos back online
posted by Anonymous on 28-Jun-2004 18:46:38 (2684 reads)
On 22nd June 2004 we had a server error which had the unfortunate effect of deleting ALL of our online videos, (The media folder just vanished into thin air!). No-one here deleted it, and apparently, neither did our ISP.

Read more for details and a call for help regarding two lost videos!

It has taken a full week to recompile and re-upload everything, (Uploading 3Gigabytes at 25K a second does take a little while !) The good news is that all the files that were in our backup archive have now been restored.

Unfortunately we did not have a backup of just two videos, so if anyone has a copy of any of these that they would be prepared to upload, please let us know:

1) Video of the AmigaOS4 / MicroA1 demo on the Turkish Technology Channel
AmigaTTV.avi,mpg,rm,wmv

2) OS4 Installation demo from the ANT Meeting of February 2004
AntFeb.AVI,mpg,rm,wmv

Thanks for your support !

I have ANTFEB.wmv - 24,592,060 bytes big on CD here, but currently my connection is kinda slow. Give me FTP with upload resume capabilites and I can send it there.

Just found that I have amigaTTV.avi - 11,266,048 bytes long as well. It's on the Amiga, but it will take just a minute to burn it to CDRW or some minutes to send it through the parallel conection.

I've got amigaTTV.avi 11266048 bytes and amigaTTV.txt at 2677 bytes (subtitles).

No hassle to upload, I'm on a 22Mbit (shared) internet link

LOL

Tricky to back up the source video, the raw AVI footage covers hundreds of Gigabytes. Though one would have expected it to be relatively safe on the web ?? Go Figure !

Nice to have all the stuff back up there though, but this little glitch did cost Paul most of his holiday to sort out.

I usually store stuff in high quality DVD format. Okay it's not perfect but it usually survives at least one (or even sometimes two) re-encodes without significant loss of quality.

By the way, I have some stuff here. If you are still looking for the files after a while, you will have to let me know the sizes as I have many Amiga videos and I tend to rename them!!

Actually it was the other way round, I had the original multi gigabyte raw versions, but not all of the different converted formats, so I had to re-convert lots of stuff, which was quite time consuming, then of course it all had to be re-uploaded which took almost constant uplading from Friday night to the early hours of Monday morning, a few hours were lost overnight when the server would decide to break the connection when it knew I was not looking

It's good to see Tigerware Productions posting here, it means that his internet connection did not melt with all the (ab)use we gave it last weekend

I have now taken a backup of all the uploaded files, in fact, copies of the files are now on my A1 as well as a Windows Server. I will also be copying everything onto a DVD, I have no intention of going though all that again
Thanks to all those who helped in the recovery of the lost files, I think I should be able to re-create everything from what everyone has sent me (or is about to send me)
