posted by MikeB on 23-Jul-2004 21:23:12 (6886 reads)
As pointed out by HMK within our forums, AmigaOS4 beta-tester Crisot has made another one of his unofficial AmigaOS4 demonstration videos available. This time he demonstrates AmigaOS4's default movie player MooVId.

@ Steff

Unless you are a beta-tester I guess you will have to wait a little.

The demonstration shows the PPC native version of MooVId running together with PPC native graphics drivers (sheduled for the upcoming Pre-release update).

I don't like so much the Moovid GUI, but the speed of this player it's very impressive !

Well done Hyperion, and now, after this video the blue troll must shut up

I knew it ! I just knew it.

I knew all along that there was just a single one using many different names

That said, I don't think there was any need to start talking about coloured trolls.

@ GadgetMaster

Agreed, let's keep this discussion about the video/demonstration itself.

Most importantly we know these people are/were wrong and the AmigaOS4 team is doing a good and steady job. The 'trolls' will come up with other ****, as always, so IMO better be prepared and make sure not to get too wind up about it. IMO it's attention they seek and thus we should probably ignore them as much as possible.

Can't wait to see this.

Right, I don't wanna sound like a moany pants but what's with all the DiVX files every time we have a new video. It seems system exept my Amiga can view these. Some .avi files run on AMP2 (Which I WILL be registering, thanks for this one AmiDog) but this one only plays the audio.

Couldn't a format be used that is more compatable with Amiga players? Newer codecs shouldn't have to be used just because they're new. Older ones can still show us what we need to see.

Still, looking forward to actually using it. Keep up the stunning work Hyperion & the Beta testers.

FuZion.

Hmm

I noticed that the mouse movement was much slower this time. So according to the insane troll logic he must have slowed the video down and it's really supposed to run at 60fps!

Seems AMP wont play this file, wonder why people makes use of non-Amiga friendly formats?
Anyway I have seen the native stuff allready and it seems quite promising, hopefully we will get the update soon.

BTW: Anyone know if there's anyone doing an OS4 native version of AWeb 3.5??

Well, Moovid PPC plays it very well, so I wouldn't call it a "non-Amiga friendly" format...

@Lecta

I havent got Moovid PPC (N/A on OS4 yet), but since its working for you I will just call it AMP unfriendly format

Shall we call it teaser-format then.
VLC can't play it, neither AMP or Mediaplayer.

*edit*
Managed to play it with VLC now.

If AWEB just gets a brush over the GUI, native or not it's fast...

It's not a priority on my list... so you maybe go ahead and recompile it, I think you need bin-utils so you need to cross compile it from linux...

Looking good. And the Moovid interface (control area at the bottom) is looking better to me too. Did anyone else notice that the top righthand video is a video of a similiar desktop arangement running multiple videos and menu selections? Funny and cool at the same time.
