Announcement   Announcement : Amiga Dev Box Online
   posted by Bobsonsirjonny on 20-Nov-2004 14:33:50 (3970 reads)
AmigaDevBox

There are many talented coders out there, many of whom would like to write software for OS4 but are unable to afford the necessary hardware. As a result, OS4 is loosing these talented coders, and loosing possible software development which would help further the platform. This problem was discussed here at Amigaworld.net in the following Topic

Amiga Dev Box intends to address this problem. Amiga Dev Box is a community initiative designed to partner the developer without OS 4 with a tester who has an Amiga One/OS 4 box. The tester can either lend them the box or allow the developer remote access to build at an agreed time (or run commands to build themselves). The tester provides the SDK autodocs on CD to the developer and between them they get a product to release.
This is a private agreement between the Developer and the Tester, Amiga Dev Box simply provides a way of posting your details so both parties can meet and come to an agreement.

Status reports on apps being ported will be added to the site as things progress.

Many Thanks

The Amiga Dev Box Team.

Anyone know how to get IBrowse spoofing as Mozilla so it can be used with GuestMap?

Answer: The coder of IBrowse believes it would be too open to abuse, so use AWEB in this case.

@Bobsonsirjonny and @DaveP

Well done guys, I'm glad someone took the initiative. I can't wait to be in a position to make my mark on the map.

I've added a hit counter. It records unique vistors, and not just page views.

@Bobsonsirjonny

Just a little question... You write: "The tester provides the SDK autodocs on CD to the developer and between them they get a product to release." ... may you redestribute the autodocs?

if yes @all
Could someone please send me the autodocs?

I could give access to a place to upload it... or you could send it to my email address... please

Think I can say that I am developing... look at: m4-1.4.2 on OS4depot... AWK on the updated SDK... abc-shell... etc. but would be nice to have the autodocs

Go to settings >> URL Prefs, add a new url and enable "Spoof as Mozilla" for that specific URL.

I have AmigaOS4 AND an AmigaOne. There are however several things that are still
needed:

1. Complete and accurate documentation (The autodocs supplied with the SDK are
from OS3.9, for the most part).

2. A Debugger that will at least tell you why the debugger itself refuses to work!
gdb simply hangs when given any command that it should respond to. Is there
some particular sort of shell that it wants to use that is not part of AmigaOS4 or
just what is wrong with it?? A stack size of 10000000 should be more than adequate!

Fix these things & at least one more programmer is available to write new code. I've
already posted several packages to OS4Depot despite these limitations
