A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

2004 was a year filled with difficulties to overcome, a year when important milestones were set allowing the Amiga community to advance. May 2005 become a year of joy, prospering and breakthrough for all of us, a year we reap the fruits!

How about they tell us what they're actually doing instead of giving out stupid merry christmas messages.

I'm really pissed...

Not about their christmas wishes, but about the general situation with this company called "Amiga, Inc." which has absolutely nothing to do anymore with our beloved Amiga hardware nor with our even more beloved AmigaOS. A firm which hasn't done a 5h1t for several years to get us back..

I don't want any bad wishes to anyone.. but i'd really not feel sorry, if this farce of a Amiga-company would finally get closed and a new one 'd be founded to bring the Newstyle-Amiga and AmigaOS4+ back and advance.. for *real* this time..

Also KMOS could finally bring their arse in a rush, regarding the IP and stuff they acquired.. ie. (the) Amiga(OS).

ATM i really know how all the remaining atari users may have felt, as "this other PC gamecompany" (sorry, don't remember the name) was renamed to Atari

Crying stops here.. sorry to all, but i had to say that or i'd exploded.. oh, and don't mind if you find any phrase in my post you didn't know before

So, smiling again, we are very very lucky to have such bravehearts like the guys at Hyperion, Eyetech, ACK, and all other AmigaOS developers or supporters of any flavor out there which "keep the momentum going".. thx guys and a very happy and successfull 2005 to you all!

@ jahc

Ah, I see you have put your happy face on just for Christmas.

@ Cyborg

Things are often far more complex than they look when judging them from an outsider perspective. Without Amiga Inc there would have been no AmigaOS4, AmigaDE nor AmigaOne products today and the Amiga assets would still be locked up somewhere inside a Gateway attic.

Thus also AmigaWorld.net, a website many people have grown to love, would not have existed today in its current form.

ARRRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!

Give them a break already! They used huge amounts of money to get the rights
to use the name and OS we like so much. Ainc struck a deal with Hyperion and Eyetech.
And now we are able to play with the next generation Amiga.

How would you feel, if you used ten years of your life to get a good idea going.
And all you get back is "teenagers" whining about what you did wrong.

Edited: HWGA - flame. Please keep the conversation on a non personal level.

Happy Holidays Amiga Inc! I wish you a very happy new year!

Well, it's good to hear something from them, no matter what you think they have done as a company. I agree that things have been frusterating from a user standpoint, but as MikeB said, without Amiga, the OS and everything would just be locked away in Gateway's patent vault.

Let's also not forget that OS3.5, OS3.9, AmigaForever, etc. came about as a result of Amiga Inc. licensing these products to third parties, in much the way that OS4 and the AmigaOne have been created. They have made many mistakes along the way, but I'm sure none of us make those kind of costly mistakes on purpose.

@Thread

Please take a moment to stop and think about exactly what this simple message from Amiga means, and accept this wish of good will, and prosperity for it's genuine content.

Best of Luck to Amiga Inc. and it's employee's in 2005.

Tony

AOS 3.5 was released during the Gateway era, wasn't it.

Also in the late days of the Gateway era H&P got permission to do AOS ppc port (according to Jochen Becher/H&P interview) but soon later when Amiga changed hands once again they were again forbidden to do it by we know who ...

@ Georg

Actually Gateway cancelled all Amiga related activities (QNX Neutrino, Amiga OE, Amiga MMC and AmigaOS3.5) in 1999 resulting into Jim Collas and Bill McEwen both leaving the company.

In 2001 Haage & Partner (after they did AmigaOS3.9 for Amiga) had permission and an agreement with the new independent Amiga Inc company to produce a version of AmigaOS4, but eventually Haage&Partner decided against this and the original AmigaOne design by Escena was also cancelled and so some time later a deal was made with Hyperion to lead the AmigaOS4 effort and Eyetech partnered with Mai Logic for the current AmigaOne designs.

I simply don't understand this reaction.

2004 may have been very difficult for some of us, but OS4 pre-release CAME OUT THIS YEAR. please tell me that was just "nothing".

The uA1 was made available for purchase. please tell me that was just "nothing".

go ahead.....

This past year KMOS did not hand out rubber checks. They didn't lie to employees, they didn't use anyone and throw them away. unlike CERTAIN OTHERS.

KMOS has not done anything to be ashamed of.

Just because they aren't personally calling YOU up and telling you about everytime they visit the bathroom doesn't mean they are bad.

so get over yourself.

And try to enjoy the Season in peace.

@Gopal
"...And all you get back is "teenagers" whining about what you did wrong..."

Problem is that they haven't done nothing! Only thing they done was try to take advantage of the Amiga name to have the opportunity to get sales for their DE product, wich had nothing to do with AmigaOS, and wich was actually going to be called AmigaOS... Argghh let's forget about that now....
Merry Christmas to Amiga Inc.
