@Cecilia

2004 was actually one of the best Amiga years in a very long time but I doubt that had much to do with Amiga Inc.

I would like to thank Eyetech, Hyperion, all the developers and betatesters for making this a good year for the Amiga. Next year I hope to see the positive trend continue and who knows, maybe something exiting will show up from Amiga Inc

How about they tell us what they're actually doing instead of giving out stupid merry christmas messages.
I simply don't understand this reaction.

2004 may have been very difficult for some of us, but OS4 pre-release CAME OUT THIS YEAR. please tell me that was just "nothing".

The uA1 was made available for purchase. please tell me that was just "nothing".

go ahead.....

This past year KMOS did not hand out rubber checks. They didn't lie to employees, they didn't use anyone and throw them away. unlike CERTAIN OTHERS.

KMOS has not done anything to be ashamed of.

Just because they aren't personally calling YOU up and telling you about everytime they visit the bathroom doesn't mean they are bad.

so get over yourself.

And try to enjoy the Season in peace.

I think his comments were directed to Amiga, Inc. and not KMOS.

my point is that it matters not if no one "hears" anything from KMOS or "amiga Inc" (i'm not convinced that even exists as a company any more.)

we hear from those companies that make the boards and make the OS.

and, in my book, THAT is all that matters.

And we should toast them!

AND be greatful that no one is being ripped off!

You know if I was AmigaInc or KMOS I would be insulted that...
1. You think they have not done anything for the platform.
2. You think they are not beavering away on something to lift the platform further.

Give 'em a chance to release something.....

Then we can complain..... But I hope not.

Ok. Going back to my happy place now.

I'm some what relieved and very pleased to hear from Amiga Inc. for all the reasons Mike B. stated ..........
Quote:
Without Amiga Inc there would have been no AmigaOS4, AmigaDE nor AmigaOne products today and the Amiga assets would still be locked up somewhere inside a Gateway attic.
....and more.

This is an exciting time to know about and indeed to be an Amiga supporter.

Welcome back Amiga Inc. et al.

@Troels

An accurate statement.

Hyperion, Eyetech and all of the OS4 coders and testers have kept the Amiga alive. Without you guys we wouldn't have a platform and my thanks go to all of you.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We can never know that for sure and the damage reeked by AInc. since then really does them no favours.

I feel more positive for the future and my best wishes are that the KMOS/Hyperion/Eyetech team can take things forward to the next level.

Hopefully KMOS will return in the New Year with an all new - different Amiga Inc. and then we really can go forward together.

Also - Thanks MikeB and all the AW.Net team for creating Amigaworld.net!

@ -Sam-

I don't think another company would have spend 4.5 million USD on acquiring the Amiga assets. The second biggest fish currently still (somewhat) swimming inside the 'Amiga community pond' already seems to be struggling after spending a few hundred thousand dollars and is now already looking for different markets.

Also with regard to the AmigaDE, I don't think people realize enough that the original Amiga Inc investors were mainly interested in this project and not in reviving the AmigaOS4 market like is currently done. You could compare this somewhat with Atari and others investing large amounts of money into the development of a new revolutionary gaming system and Jay Miner's team eventually turning the project into a fully featured multimedia computer.

Oh Mike, you just couldn't pass that chance for showing your true love to cheap stabs, could you ?

Just to inform you, that other "fish" did spend much more than a few 100k of their own money, and instead of wasting it on n obsolete brand, and some IP that didn't plan to use, the dared to spend it on actual products.

That other company may be struggling, but it isn't the one that has dozen or so (still unpaid) verdicts against it, it isn't the one that to costumers money on products that had no influence on,while being thrown out of office. Also not the one that claimed to have the "tshirts" "in production", only to be egg-faced a few days later.

No it is the one that is still being seen on trade-show, that has working (!!) deals with industry-leader and (shock-horror) a real product the can sale,

Still don't see why buying some IP, and making sure that noone can do anything with it for ~2 years before letting someone else do something with it is such an achievment.

Trying to rebadge a piece of completly unrelated tech as Amiga, and than going nowhere with it for the next 5 years also doesn't count as a major success.

Looking back at the last 5 years, I can't see how they could have been worse without Amino, even if Gateway had completly closed up on licencecing Amiga-IP (which I don't believe looking at the AF-deal).

Kronos, I know it must be hard for you. Despite past problems Amiga Inc is rocking again. I see some resemblance with Rocky fighting in Moscow against that Russian giant. Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!

AmigaOS3.9 was released in December 2000 and a deal with Haage&Partner for AmigaOS4 was made halfway through 2001, that's not remotely equivalent to a 2 year period.

And not to forget the first "Boing Bag" update for OS 3.9 was also released in March 2001.

@Mike

Ainc is rocking ?? Bla bla, heard that before.....

Bout 3.9:
H&P didn't want to to another 68k-OS, the wanted to go PPC, but AInc said "no" as they feared that their plan to lure developers onto intent.

I the end 3.9 was a 100% H&O-project, only missled by AInc and their "AOS i dead speaches". Rumour says they didn't even managed to cash in licence fees (which offcourse didn't stop them from forcing Bernie&Harald into a distribution deal with H&P).

Later in 2001 they went back to AOS and H&P, but Onkel Jürgen demanded cash and working (new) HW. Neither AInc nor Eyetech could deliever, nothing was done, and therefore it doesn't count.

Let's just say Jürgen Haage (Haage & Partner) told me differently during dinner one time, but of course I should take your words and personal perceptions more seriously.

there's unpaid former employees on that side. don't kid yourself.

just because most don't talk about it publically because they would be vilified by the Master Manipulator doesn't mean they don't exist.

I wish all my brothers and sisters using MOS happy hollidays and a good year - without the insanity of the Mad Ones.
