Hmm, I'm wondering whether people would appreciate me offering to host files like this with bittorrent on my machine. I've got a 4Mbit uplink

Let me know if this sounds nice.

@all , keep in mind that my 240mhz bppc feels slower than ryu's 166 , this is due to the mem speed etc ..

My 200mhz bppc is (GRRR) faster in os4 than my 240mhz...

I don't know the song, but it sounds like Franz Ferdinand to me.

Heyyyy! I have my BPPC 240 Mhz waiting for OS4!!!

When you say "Slow mem" your refer to the SIMM MODULES?

I have 128 mb (form haymiggan) + 64 Mb SIMM

How can I test the speed of this mem ?

I think it's a matter of wether you have 60ns or 70ns type of EDO SIMMs. 60ns SIMM modules are significantly faster than the older 70ns kind.

Edit: I have 2x64mb 60ns EDO SIMMs on my BlizzardPPC@240MHz with BlizzardVision and can't wait to get my dirty geek hands on AmigaOS4.

@Toaks

It's surpricing that the mem speed effect is that big (huge).

Is it because of RAM chip speeds? (60ns vs 70ns)
Or is it because of the differences in memory bus Mhz?
Both?

240Mhz runs @ 60Mhz ?
200mhz runs @ 66Mhz ?
166mhz runs @ 66Mhz ?

And what is the (pci) bus speed to the permedia2?

KimmoK: i run at 60ns ofcourse,. the problem lies in the whole bppc construction , i notice differences anyway .

And yes it must be bus speed related or that my bppc's are just living at its last straw (though heretic2 , shogo etc plays fine under max pressure).

that said, my bppc's has scsi too so thats another "bad" one i guess..

Both?

I'd say both factors are important. The Blizzard's lack of any Level-2 cache and the narrow 32-bit memory bus means the CPU is constantly starved of data. Anything that improves memory throughput or latency will make a large difference to system's performance.

@olegil

Thanks for the offer but I have 2 servers at 2 different colocations both with very good upstream links so I should be okay as far as bandwidth needs are concerned

I'm juste wondering...

Is it a video of AOS4 BPPC version or a test of AOS4 (A1 version) on a 1200/BPPC ?

@ Tonton_Pascal

It's a Blizzard PPC beta version of AmigaOS4.

@ Ryu

Despite being a bit shaky and such, a very useful video. Keep up the good work!

@samo

Already seen it and its a complete piss take of my efforts, I dont even see any proof it is running on a CSPPC.
