Nice review. The sound driver should be set up by the OS4 installer when you install for the first time, mine worked straight of. Maybe this didn't happen because of using a HD pre-installed on another system?

Would agree with the points about the apps though, I can't use my uA1 'day-to-day' yet *, like I used to use my A1200t, Amigawriter and iBrowse not working properly being the main issues for me, so feels a bit like 1 step forward and 2 steps back , sure this situation change in time though.

* saying that the 2.8GHz PC I use 'day-to-day' is now refusing to let me log onto AW.net , so now I'm using the trusty household iMac G3 (400Mhz).

Nice report/review.

Though I must say that it would, as some already said in an earlier thread, have been that bit more useful if you had also have to install the OS from CD. Especially for the sake of the video (where is that, BTW?)

Best of luck with your new pet!

Best regards,

Niels

One of the best tips on IntuitionBase hints and tips is to use external image decoding with IBrowse. Using the OS4 native datatypes for images is a lot faster than the built-in 68K code.

wooo...

@Mikey_C I think the review should emphasise a bit more that the reason you have no sound is because your using a presetup OS4. I wouldnt want people to think they have to mess about setting up the soundcard themselves on a normal CD install.

I was under the impression the installer installed the correct soundcard driver during installation.

If that isnt the case then I appologise but since I dont own an AmigaOne I can only go on what Im able to read from other people..

Agreed, and you should see it fly with JIT installed

@dan.hutch

uh since when
Ibrowse has worked on my copy of OS4 for a very long time and Amigawriter and finalwriter work no problems either.

Ibrowse was one of the first programs installed. Surf the web everyday using it.

I will go on a rant later about dealer setups and installs later it should be fun.

MikeyC -

You might want to consider round IDE cables for a case that tight - you can zip tie them off so as to permit better airflow. Just a suggestion.
