| I appreciate the effort but I thought OS4 was to support TrueType fonts anyway... _________________ The Rear Window blog

However...... on the same page is this: ViewISO
I got that too and then realized why this lib is very nice. That ViewISO will show all the characters in any truetype font - even without having to install it. so you can download a font, put it in ram and look at it in that view program. if you don't need the lib for any other reason, THAT one is good enough for me.
plus, there are libs for 68k, MOS AND OS4!
nice! _________________ "In terms of worship, I worship the God of Irony. That's the only God that I know exists." Terry Gilliam

| I would imagine, that even though OS4 supports TT fonts, this specific library is needed for Apps that use the ttengine.library .. hence an OS4 version would speed up font rendering for these apps?
but i might be worng though _________________

No, you're right.
The TrueType font engine in OS4 is "hidden" in the diskfont.library layer. This step was necessary since the API of freetype changed substantially between 1 and 2, and might do so again in the future. So instead of exposing the library, we "reserve" the possibility to change it if needed.
A consequence is that you can only use truetype fonts indeirectly via the Amiga font system. _________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

Isn't this how it should be? I mean all programs should call diskfont.library and use bitmap or scalable fonts as they where the same. Or is this not how OS4 works?
What do you mean "use indirectly"?

I see... so how does fxPAINT perform now with ttengine.library under OS4? Anyone? _________________ The Rear Window blog
