| SP26 causes problems here, I get several (well, 5 or 6) 'afc.library is too old or missing' errors when installing the bonus pack and Golded causes a Grimreaper when I run it, I have a crashlog with 68k stack trace if you want it... _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

| Way to go! I've been trying to adapt something that resembles the LSE/SAS environment, but this is sure to be much better.
I look forward to installing as soon as I get home.
Thanks, Dietmar!!

If you see this error, please download GoldED again, either the trial version or the update for registered users (bonuspack). This was an error in the initial relase of the archives. They should have contained this afc.libraryLast edited by dietmar on 25-Apr-2005 at 05:33 PM.

| I'm not at 4.0 yet. Is this usable at all on 3.9, or is it PPC only? And thanks Dietmar!

| It's a cross-platform product for OS3, OS4, PowerUP/WarpOS and MorphOS. The SDK is PPC (gcc/vbcc), GoldED is not. With vbcc, you can cross-compile between these platforms. |

When I installed a previous version, I was asked if I wanted to install a compiler (or something like that). Assuming that I already have GCC installed and working(with OS4), how should I answer?

The C/C++ mode only works with its own gcc/vbcc compiler installations because it's virtually impossible to deal with all user-installed compilers safely. So it doesn't attempt to. It ignores other gcc/vbcc compilers. Nothing is overwritten or removed. Those compilers can not be used with GoldED in any form.
The advice is: You should install GoldED with its C/C++ mode and let it install all compilers and SDKs you plan to use. This will all go into "devkits:", so nothing on your system is overwritten. Then, before you reboot, comment out all lines in user-startup that are related to other vbcc or gcc or sdk/ndk installations (don't delete them, you may want to go back to the old state). If your old compiler environment has installed files into system directories or into the path, for example a make tool, find and remove such files.
Reboot and see if you are happy with the installation. Your old gcc or sdk is still somewehere on the disk. If it is a customized setup (or if you are a beta tester and have a newer SDK than publicly released), you might want to move files over into the new "devkits:" tree. Its structure is self-explanatory. Existing OS4 SDK installations outside "devkits:" are automatically detected and their local folder (containing your user files) is copied automatically.
If you feel comfortable with GoldED, clean up user-startup and delete the other compiler installation. If not, uninstall and restore user-startup. The "devkits:" tree can be uninstalled automatically and independendly from GoldED: there is a "devkits" folder in the C/C++ archive and the script in that folder can install and uninstall the compilers/SDKs. If you uninstall GoldED, it will not uninstall devkits, editor and devkits are separate packages. |

| @dietmar
Thanks, the SP26 & bonuspack & the OS4 dev system installed fine and seems to work all right in my A1 system. In order to get reference date from a IIntuition->OpenWindow() style function call the cursor has to be on the function name, not on the interface pointer IIntuition. NOt a big problem, though.
