Software News   Software News : Wet 3.0 released
   posted by Chris_Y on 1-Jun-2005 18:32:03 (7564 reads)
Wet 3.0 - the weather program for OS4 - has just been released to OS4Depot.

New features include weather condition icons on the Workbench screen (many thanks to Ken of Ken's Icons for the icons), an ARexx port and lots of smaller changes.

This version has a completely rewritten decoding engine so should be much more stable than previous versions (if it didn't work for you before, it should now)

@PEB

If you've modified the Startup-sequence to launch Roadshow via Run >nil: then that could be the cause as your system is starting up and executing the WBStartup before the network is up possibly.

@sicky and others with network connection problems

Please replace the executable with this version: Wet3 test and try again. Let me know the result.

Thanks
Chris

Hi, Chris!

Replaced the exectuable and it's now working fine again also. Thanks...

Just to confirm, the new executable fixes the problem for me too, thanks for the quick update!

@Vader

Yep, that was it. Too bad though---with the Run >nil launch, I was getting WB to do a 6 second warm boot; but without it, it takes about 20 seconds. Oh well, I guess its still faster than my wife's XP Box.

Thanks.

peb:just set priority on the wet file last in the que of files to be started while loading wbstartup and u could try with a wait aswell but i doubt that will work.

u should not have this problem....try moving the addnetinterface line up a few lines aswell...

lots of things here

cheers

@peb

You could also enable "suppress warnings" in the settings menu, however that will stop it updating for half an hour.

You could also try setting a static IP address rather than using DHCP.

I'll see if I can add a configurable delay before the first check.

Chris

@Chris_Y

See my comments over on the OS4Depot about some warnings that appear on the serial debug line when Wet fetches the weather data.

Hi Ken,
I've put WET in my sub-docky. I don't why the IP loop-back won't
resolve, but it works fine there. I like the neat App icons! Nice
You gotta have an good umbrella in your dock!

Hi Chris,
Works fine as v2.0 did! I created a new directory in Sys:Locale
called KDET for all the data. KDET is my ICAO -- Detroit City Aiport.
I like the APP icon on WB. It's shows clear and nice!
Thanks! I like that umbrella a lot!

My sub-docky points to things need 'when I need them': WET, ACCESS, AmiDict,
AMRSS, AWEB, PicShow.
