No offense, but the news summary is an optimistic reading of what he said.

Quote:
So at the moment we are out of stock, we have mostly paid for the next batch and the manufacturer has everything lined up for production except the cpu's.
I will post here when we receive them.

There's nothing I see that looks like "in a short period of time". It's good news that another/more batches of uA1-c are being ordered as needed, so hopefully it won't be too long to wait, but it doesn't look like anyone should be waiting at the mailbox just yet.

@swoodall

My interpretation too. Good news that they are being produced, but maybe "short period of time" needs to be ammended to "when they get the CPUs and finish the payment". My savings are growing, so maybe I'll be able to get in on one this time.

Another misinterpretaion I'm afraid.

We are not 'saving up to pay the rest' as you are tring to imply. We paid the majority up front several months ago and pay the balance on delivery, as that gave us the best prices by taking the financing of the component costs (and the manufacturing set up costs) away from the manufacturer.

But with a (very) sustantial six-figure sum paid over to them several months ago we are clearly doing everything possible to expedite the delivery of the boards.

You are completely correct on one point - they won't get built until we receive the cpus.

Alan,

Thanks for the information! It is good to have you back with us as I see it! Alot of us are working hard to advance the new generation of the Amiga and since we now know what is really going on, that helps alot! I apologize for anything I said in my last post since it turns out it is not your fault at all and the lack of CPUs, but this was not known to us! I will hope that you will continue to keep us updated on the hardware situation, since this communication from you will help better sell AmigaOnes. Everyone was like the AmigaOne is dead, and really it is just a shortage of CPU chips!

Thanks again Alan.

Anyone as old (or older - happens !) as me can remember Sinclair Research having problems shipping 48K Speccies for the very similar reason of RAM chip shortages.

funny innit how what goes around comes around ?

Weirdly enough, I was writing on my blog the other day about my early computer ownership and it had me thinking about the whole Amiga situation at the moment being rather like back then.

Thats what inspired my post about lack of people buying. This whole computer scene for me seems to be coming full circle. Damned young uns today just don't know they are born

I implied that? I didn't think I did, it wasn't my intentions, and I'm sorry if it sounded that way. I said once they get the CPU's and finish payment. Isn't that the same thing that you posted here?: Post 14

Yeah I didn't read any negative intent to that post either.

OK, apologies. But there have been many posts claiming that we can't pay bills etc.

I wanted to emphasise that the 'finishing payment' is absolutely nothing to do with getting the boards manufactured. We have paid all we agreed to pay before the boards are delivered. The remaining amount gets paid once they are in our hands.

@ Eyetech

Any chance to get additional A1 XEs with G4 CPUs?

@thread

a "substantial 6 figure sum" sounds like quite a few new boards to go around.

This is great news, only one thing way not use G4 or at least an option for on the Micro Amiga Ones, I hope my Amiga friend gets hold of one of this cards, he is nuts about Amiga too, he just don have the cash yet. He is currently using an old Amiga4000 68040/40mhz whit a 233mhz 604 PPC CPU, it’s quite unstable and he is getting random read/write errors, the disk he is using it looks like all access to it is lost from time to time, only a cold boot restores it.
