Events   Events : AmiGBG 2005 report & Global Amiga celebrations
   posted by MikeB on 28-Jul-2005 12:39:05 (9542 reads)
I have finished my AmiGBG 2005 fair and celebrations report.

"Last Saturday on the 23rd of July Amigans worldwide celebrated the 20th birthday of the Amiga platform at several events and gatherings. It was the 23rd of July 1985 when the Amiga 1000 was unveiled to the public at the Lincoln Center in New York. At the three biggest Amiga birthday events there were also extensive AmigaOS4 presentations"

Stay tuned for many commented pictures to be added! I will get at it as soon as I find some spare time to do so.

Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who helped make Amiga's 20th birthday a great success.

For some reason I never noticed you. Considering you never came up to me at the OO.org table and said hi, I presume you never noticed me either? (I didn't stay there all the time, though. There was too much interesting to see and hear)

You almost sound like Ryu, when I didn't say hi to him at the more recent Benelux Amiga Show and Amiga Show in Bath, United Kingdom. I talked to lots of people, but not everyone (I was also recording and stuff). For instance I don't have a clue what you actually look like. Any pictures of you at AmiGBG or were you maybe hiding underneath the table?

Here are some pics of me with others.

@NutsAboutAmiga

I saw you, though. You were standing 3 meters away, looking at the Compusphere guys with their projector showing demos. I was incognito, with long hair and no beard (kinda opposite of what I had the last time I was in Gothenburg ). I figured you were too shy or something

@MikeB

You're gonna hit yourself when I tell you.

I'm the guy in the middle here:
http://www.mhd.miun.se/shoe/amigbgImageGallery/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=26&page=view&catid=2&PageNo=1&key=8&hit=1

I didn't think I was that fat, but we had already had about 12 beers that day, so it might be that. For some reason you expect to look a LITTLE bit better after completing a 1060km trip on the bicycle.

A bit off-topic but did anyone get that interview with Kalms on video? Would be great if yes

@ z5

Yes we recorded the interview, but you will probably have to wait for the official AmiGBG DVD by AmigaOne productions to be finished.

BTW: Nobody really seems to have taken notice, but AmigaInput on USB Gamepads was shown at the AmiGBG the first time. Those PSX Pads Amidog had in use for showing FPSE were run using a USB->PSX Connector, and this was a version of FPSE supporting AmigaInput

There's already a list of supported USB pads/joysticks which is growing longer

Great report, very detailed.. I'm amazed that you remember so well.

Thanks for this, it really helps those who couldn't make it to this year!

Omg, Steffen. Why didn't you say anything.

And AmiDog, he didn't tell me either.

Now that is interesting. Could you mail me some help on how to use it (implement it)?

Well, as someone already said, next AmiGBG needs some large note that tells what is showned at each table.
