Software News   Software News : New release of the GUI builder..
posted by Samwel on 24-Aug-2005 2:05:08 (2393 reads)
The next stable release of AVD's GUI Builder component, v0.3.0.72, is now available in the Members Only area for review by subscribers. This version makes significant strides in the area of manipulating the layout and position of the ReAction objects and maintaining a live real-time view of the changes at the same time. Subscribers should see the instructions link for more details and features list for the new version.

A new version of The SDK Browser containing the first tests of the new intelligent hyper-linking is now also available for subscribers. You can now double-click of any text within the SDK Browser's display that appears to be a function call, and trigger an automatic lookup for that call. If a match is found then the function will be highlighted (but not auto-loaded). Simply pressing "space" or clicking on the newly found name will cause the new function to be displayed. This is a very handy way to move around and follow the "SEE ALSO" suggestions at the bottom of most Autodoc displays.

Further updates of the GUI Builder should be available more quickly now that the core functionality is finally complete.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Sure thing, I will publish some new screen shots shortly.

I am just coming off another 20+ hours of programming
to get the release out there, so I had to crash before
I even got the email announcements out there to the
subscribers.

Thanks for paying attention everyone!

Best Regards,

Jamie

You da man !
You da man !

I have attempted to create ReAction GUI in the past (by butchering HJF's (IIRC ) Printer Prefs example) but its a complete PITA designing a GUI from text, when you have the layout in 2d !

nice one son !

@Jamie

Wow, looks very promising and the ability to move/reorder groups of controls seems to be very powerful ...seems that we will have a tool as powerful as other well known visual ides on other platforms... you're doing a great work (and very needed too!).
It'll be one of the first packages i'll buy for sure when i'll have an A1!

Looking good.

It appears someone was paying attention to my whining back in February asking for XML formats. Even better, my suggestion for run-time UI creation from XML is coming as well.

THIS is the stuff that will make the UI development rock!

Thanks Jamie.
