it is nice to see that we have some old school developer houses still around.

No! , but its been reported to work with the final release with JIT. I've been dying to see my copy of Aladdin work under OS4. A beta tester offered to test it for me so I sent him the program to try. He said it worked right out of the box for him. I also tried it on Richard Drummond's A1 at AmiWest & saw it render a project. Under OS4 ud#3, Aladdin will not render & other menus will not work at all. I'll just have to wait for the final release before I can check everything. Rest assured, I'll be bitching if its still not right.

There has been signficant progress on the floating point side of things and we (beta testers) are focusing more on such details now as the final release draws ever closer. We don't want you all bitchy now do we.

Ya, I know the OS4 team is working hard on final & Aladdin has been said to work on MorphOS so I have high hopes. My first goal was to raise a red flag, that done I can now only wait. Xmas should be good this year.

Great news about Aladdin4D working on OS4 final.

I bought the ImageFF4.5 upograde, and Aladdin when kermit did the free shipping offer, about a year ago. I always had a niggle that aladdin would never work under OS4, but obviously your info proves my worries unfounded.

Now, I wonder what other programs will work better/correctly under OS4 final.

Well that makes 2 of us, I was beginning to think I was alone. At the time, I told the beta tester that I didn't think he could get it working, but he told me that he had the debugging tools to have a good go at it. Ya, right, fat chance. Less then an hour, after I sent the program, he sent me a jpg of the shuttle with my avator on the tail, made my day. He tracked it down, I believe, to the graphics.library.kmod in the current release. As well as not rendering, most of the external tools don't work. I just hope it comes down to a common problem & it works as it does on my classic only a lot faster. The beta tester turned in a bug report, so the problem is out there for the programmers to see. Aladdin requires a cpu with a FPU, so any programs with similar requirements will benefit as well I would think.

And ImageFX? Does it work on OS4?
I ask because the SE version that was available from the website a few weeks ago didn't work at all.

elwood: the SE version , well i cannot i remember exactly but it sure gave me problems when installing. Anyway the full version has no apparent issues on pre3 and as for current beta , i use it daily there so.

Don't hold your breath for an OS4 version. The programmer(s) are gone, but it should get a big speedup with JIT. Nova seems to be in the business of selling now, not programming.

Kermit will never make a version for OS 4. Like it was said, the programers are not there to do the work, and the code would be to difficult to follow to do the rewrite.. To truly do it right it would take a total rewrite and that will never happen. That said, Image FX is an awesome program and I had many years of fun with it and the toaster as well.

So can anyone say if an upgrade from 4.5 to 4.5 studio is worth $40 if I already have power station?

Not at all hysterical about it if there will never be an OS4 native version.

How long can a program like this remain semi-modern if development is stopped?
