I will look forward to a future were we have a choice of new Amiga motherboards.

I like the idea of USB only but I am not so sure about PCI graphics, as PCI graphics cards are getting harder to find and are a bit slow.

Congrats to all the parties involved.

Shame the board couldn't be shown at BB3 though, perhaps a pic on the site for us impatient types?

Oh and I like the "extra" page too!

@Dwyloc

Hopefully there'll be a solution to that. You know I'm already running a PCIe graphics in my AmigaOne, right? I still don't have a working driver, but Bill Toner assures me that "real soon now" I'll get to test it

At least we know that there's nothing magical involved in using a PCI to PCIe bridge chip. All that is needed is a PCB and support for the graphics cards themselves.

Wow, this is excellent news! What kind of PPC-hardware is Trolka making? This
must be the company that Hyperion was going to announce, right?

@Helgis

don't tell me you haven't heard news of Troika by now?
Read the specs on their new webpage, then ask specific questions again.
It'll be a board similar in specification to the µA1, but without the onboard graphics.

From the comparison chart:
Quote:

Suggested production price
less than £400

How much less?

Sorry that i didn't realize it before now, but i have been extremely busy
doing other stuffs with my system But yes, excellent news!

It strikes me to think that Troika also could do a "re-work" on the
A1XE-models, well perhaps even dare to call them A1XC with updated
spesifications and being a fully working ATX AmigaOne-motherboard
using the TSI controllers

@Olegil

Your AmigaOne? isn't that a infringement or something? hehe.

Got a project name for it?

Edit: Adding as the topic states. May the force be with Your union!

Well I like the name.

Web site seems to be missing one important stat, the price!

Shame the CPU seems a bit low powered, but it's really good to see someone other than eyetech out there.

I wish them all sucess!

Oopse, double post.

And I notice that the less than £400 price (how much less?) is without sales tax.

I posted this in 'the other thread' aswel, but I thought I should post it overhere aswel....

I'm a bit worried about the 'less then 400 pounds production cost' bit.

Is that without profit margins and taxes ??? Oh man.......

I think its still a bit high... Especialy as a product that has low costs in mind

>'We listened to the forums, we spoke with individuals to see what they wanted in a board. Low cost was mentioned time and time again: the consensus of opinion being that current solutions are quite expensive.'

Well.... listen some more... I would say....

Still thumbs up though !

Martin

Wrong. Hyperion was never going to annouce anything in that respect. Hans-Jörg and me said in Gothenburg that such a company exists, but we also said that they will come out themselves. We never had the intention to announce anything, nor did we announce that we annouce anything.

I appologize for thinking that Hyperion wanted to presentate the company.
Good to know the answers now

You know, a girlfriend of mine (just a friend) actually thought the name
Troika belonged to a chocolate Now THAT's funny

Too poor specs and too high price.

They could go for one or other side, but not the worst of both!

@Troika: Keep it under under 250¤, or offer a G4 and a PCIe for your pretended price, or many people will not buy. You are adviced.

Unfortunately I think you are right.

On the other hand I think the price of the AmigaOne will go up soon because of increased oil costs which will make every part of the mobo and the shipment more expensive.

But let's wait and see what happens with both motherboards. They can't run without CPU's and it seems that might become a problem.
