| I like this program. Really useful!
...What do you think about this:
"RSS.docky", showing scrolling news items? Last edited by Mr_Capehill on 04-Oct-2005 at 11:25 AM.

Tested a few of the url you reported, but here they works fine. What are exactly the problems you are experincing? Actually there isn't a way to update a single channel, it will be added in the next release. _________________ Massimiliano Tretene, ACube Systems, Soft3

Found the problem, some of the polish web sites you listed use encoding="iso-8859-2" It seems expat has problem with it, I'll correct the problem with the next release. Thanks for the feedback.

I get exactly the same as SZAMAN here, with one of the BBC's feeds (haven't tried any others.. yet). http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml
I'm using ISO-8859-15 locally if that makes a difference.

Just tested the URL here and it works (using iso-8859-15 locally here too) I see no problems. Have you tried with another "Update all" ?

| Yep, tried that. Oddly it displays fine if I click on the URL from AWeb (with the MIME types set up as in the documentation), but I can't add it as a feed, and the details are different if I modify it.
Maybe I'm adding feeds wrong, URL should be the full path to the XML file, and the feed temp directory option can be anything, correct?
I don't have expat.library installed, do I need it?

Yes, that's right. After, exit XNet and check if it created the new temp dir. Then restart it, it will show the new RSS channel with no news, Update All, and it should show you the news from the new feeds channel.

| It's working now, I tried exiting and reloading and then updating before but it did the same thing. Looks like a reboot may have fixed it. Is there any way to group the RSS feeds into categories?

| I had a similar problem to Chris also with the same BBC feed. It turned out that I copied my old address from amrss, and BBC has changed the address. The old feed ended in rss091.xml and the new feed is the same address except that it ends in rss.xml. When I fetched the old feed, it just sent a message saying the feed had permanently moved to the new address. I found this by looking in the cache directory and reading the downloaded rss file with a text editor. After fixing the address, everything was fine.
BTW, is there a way to put the scrolling news on the bottom of the screen? It's less distracting there (for me, at least), but the top is okay for now. Anyway, thanks for a really useful program. |

| Thx for your great prog. Compared to amrss there is still some place for improvements: * update single rss feed * groups and subgroups * instead of the green ball the icon of the visited RSS feed
I really like the scrolling news bar. But can one have the scrolling bar on top front so any screen I use (Pagestream/Email/AWEB/iBrowse...) so I see the news on whatever screen I work? Also placing the bar with mouse would be cool too.
BTW this feed doesn't work: the URL is truncated after the first 0

Most of the suggestions will be included in the next releases, same for the bugs, I'll correct all the errors reported.
